Thanksgiving

(-borrowed the pix from bep; thanks bep!   Smiley )

Hmm.  Thanksgiving is less than a month away - November 25.

It's a melancholy time if you're not spending it with anyone.

But that's exactly the point - it's a time of...duhhh...THANKSGIVING.

So whether you're with someone, a few, a whole bunch, or with no one, you can still just begin to list all the things for which one might be thankful.  A time of 'thanksgiving' - that's all, or what, it simply is.

Remember last year President Bush flew into Iraq for a surprise visit, and helped serve up dinner to the troops?

Seems just like yesterday.  I think that was really something.

What's everybody here doing for Thanksgiving this year?

We Are More Blessed Than Hurt

I've seen a picture of the pilgrims at the first American Thanksgiving. Do you know half of their number died the first year they were here? They had a hard time, and it was a cold winter. Dangers lurked everywhere, but those pilgrims didn't think of the death of their loved ones and the dangers and the cold weather. They didn't let that obscure the blessings of God. They went together, and they thanked the Lord for the blessings they had received.
Sometimes we need to put down our assets alongside our losses. Everyone of us is more blessed than we are hurt.

Be Thankful.....

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire --
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you are tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.

OR~

If you can't be satisfied with what you have received, be thankful for what you have escaped.

"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.  Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare."

Isaiah 55:1-2

Just Be Thankful

Check The Time:

To day is the day of salvation
and now is a good time to be saved.

Acts 16:30-31 "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved."

Getting a bit pertubed that I have no say in my birthday dinner this year.   Angry

Actually it's not that I bad, I like what's on the menu.

To list what I am thankful for would be so long it's ridiculous.  When a person stops and truly thinks about it, there is so much to be thankful for, you realize just how living God really is.  LEt me tell you I know I don't deserve any of it.

Thank you LORD for loving me first!

To have a say in your dinner, you could just request turkey and gravy!  Grin

We ARE so undeserving of His love!  Lips Sealed Yet I am thankful that we DO get what we DON'T deserve!  Cheesy

"BROTHERS AND SISTERS THINK ABOUT THE THINGS THAT ARE GOOD AND WORTHY OF PRAISE."  PHILIPPIANS 4:8 NCV

Are you a perfectionist?

Have you ever met a perfectionist who was truly happy? Probably not! Whenever things must always be a certain way, life can make you pretty miserable because life constantly changes. Instead of being grateful for their blessings, perfectionists tend to focus on what's wrong, and their need to fix it. It could be a disorganized closet, a dent in their car, a job they did that was less than perfect, or a few pounds they'd like to lose.

Or it could be someone else's imperfections: they way they look, the way they behave, or the way they live their lives. The very fact that perfectionists constantly dwell on flaws, makes it impossible for them to be grateful -- for gratitude is at the core of happiness!

This has nothing to do with striving to do better; it has to do with fixating on what's wrong! Sure there's always a better way to do something, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy life the way it is at the moment.

"What's the cure for perfectionism?" you ask. Catch yourself before you fall into your habit of insisting that things should be different than the way they are. Gently remind yourself that life is okay, and that -- in the absence of your judgement -- everything will work out fine. Why? Because God's in control! Start dealing with your need for perfection by developing an attitude of trust and gratitude. When you do, you'll begin to discover how wonderful life really is![/font]
