Hi, my name is artputey and i live in britain. I'm an atheist and at the moment a regular member of another christian forum, which is open to all kinds of discussion from people of different religion, race and creed. I thought i might look to see what else is on offer forum-wise;i haven't looked round yet so i haven't quite got the feel of this place.
Anyhow, people on this type of forum often ask why on earth an atheist would want to join. Some presume that we are out to get christians, to make fun of and mock them and their beliefs. They might ask why we don't just find an atheist forum. Well, I have tried, but i can't find a good one (if anyone knows one you can PM me if you like ) and besides, I have an interest in religion of all kinds and have found that Christianity seems a good jumping off point.
I may say some things you don't like, but please, if i ask a question, don't autumatically assume i am being snide, i'm not that sort of person. I'm certainly not here to disrespect Christianity or any other religion and if i see someone else do so i will comment on it. Anyway, i think i have said all i need to.

Welcome!!  I sincerely hope that your time on the forum is beneficial for you and for us. We will know by the questions you ask, as we've been here many times before. Very few were pleasant and most involved sport and mockery of us and our Lord. I plan to keep an open mind and hope for something different this time.

Why Do People Go To Hell?

Most believe it is because of sin. But this is not so.
People go to hell because of unbelief.

There are two issues here.

1. Christ has paid (past tense) for all sin, for all men for all time.

This is evident for the scripture says, Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

All of our sin was in the future when Christ died. The issue is belief and trust.

2. Belief of the truth is what God is looking for. Notice:

1 Tim 4:10 ... because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Those who will not believe that Christ paid for their sins will have to pay for them themselves, for eternity, in the lake of fire.

The choice is yours but I beg you in Christ stead to put your trust in HIM and HIM alone.
