Lately my heart is burdened for the upcoming movie of Narnia that will be made by the creators of "Shrek". Though I can chuckle at "Shrek" as light entertainment, I am bothered that these folks now want to animate C.S. Lewis' beloved children's stories, which have a holy message. It would be so easy for an animator to follow the basic characters and storyline, while totally neglecting the Christian worldview they contain, and further, to insert their own cheap, colored humor. I know that even if "Shrek's" Narnia is censored and smeared, it's still just a movie, based on just a book. But it could be beautiful.

I am praying that God's will be done with this movie, that He will work it out to His glory, and that if it is possible, a Christian might be involved in the creation of it.

I'm not sure if anyone can do it justice! There have been those who have tried and I didn't like them. Though they weren't irreverant, which is what I'm gathering your most worried about?, I still think the books are best!  Undecided

Many people don't know of CSLewis' deep religious convictions and insights.

I read Naria long ago... it's very good. May I also suggest the Screw-Tape letters... for those who want an insight into how the devil works!

Peace, Deke

The Screw-Tape letters was ok. Mere Christianity was the best if you want to know about his deep religious convictions and insights.

I found Mere Christianity too boring to get through much of.  I'd take Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce or Till We Have Faces first.  Or maybe the Pilgrims Regress.  Hmmm.

I haven’t read the Pilgrims Regress yet, but I’m heard I would enjoy it.
