We are instructed that we "Should not be drunk with wine wherein excess, but be FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT." (Eph 5:18)

I was just wondering how many are truely filled and how do they know it.

Hi!

This is my first post here.

I can say that I am filled with the Spirit.

I can tell you that when I came back to Yeshua, I did a serious U-turn from all my evil things. I destroyed my evil business, ripped out all the evil things from my home and was filled with a peace and happiness that I could not even hope to explain.

I could go on for hours on this but I will say that I know it for "me". Now how does someone else know if they are? I am not sure as it may be different. But common traits would be a desire for G-D, to know him, learn his word, staying away from evil things and so forth.

Read daily, pray daily, and develop a "relationship" with your Lord and Savior.

G-d Bless You!

I most surely am. Everyday my happiness comes from the fact that I'm forgiven, not from any worldly thing! I feel joy, thanksgiving, hope, patience, love, forgiveness, and love. It's truly glorious!

"Ye shall know them by their fruits"

and

Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23  meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Gal 5:24  But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
Gal 5:25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Gal 5:26  Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another.

Eph 5:9  (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
Eph 5:10  proving what is acceptable to the Lord.

I guess the best way is to let the spirit speak for you.

Thanks gang. Perhpas being filled is a question of emptying ourselves so He can have more of us?

I wouldn't say "emptying", but....

"he must be more, and I must be less"

If we refer to Him as our "all in all" then we should most certainly be giving him all of ourselves.

Good point Gracey, A.W. Tozer, who I am not, said that it begins with Rom 12:1,2- presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice.
