Luke 10:
29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
..........
36 "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
37 The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
It's rather unfortunate that you miss out who that person was.  Most of the point of the story is that the neighbour is a Samaritan - a religious "enemy" - someone a jew would avoid all contact with if possible.  The modern equivalent would be a muslim?  You neighbour is everyone - even those you disagree with most.

I don't approve of the actions of the alcoholic bum on the street, but I pray for his soul and hope for his fellowship in heaven.
And do you make sure he's got something to eat and somewhere to sleep?

NOYB

Matthew 6:1-4
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.  Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.  But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:  That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Proverbs 21:14
A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.

Your question is not one a Christian would ask.  Your simply asking the question (or making your pointed comment such as it is) clearly shows you either have never read the above scripture, or have total disregard for it.  What I give - or not - is totally between God and I.

It is not for your discernment. Period.

If you will no longer reply to my posts I promise I will avoid yours.

It's what's called a rhetorical question - I'm not interested in your answer - the point is made by asking the question.

Oklahoma Howdy to JudgeNot:

Brother, these are beautiful Scriptures on this subject. These and others like them clearly define what gifts are acceptable to God. The gifts must be given freely and in love, as Almighty God gave us the GIFT of Jesus Christ on the cross. It's not ironic that Christians experience joy and peace when we give to others in the manner that pleases God.

Love In Christ,

Amen, BAP! Obedience to the law also comes from love, not duty. Since God has forgiven us, we have the love inside us to forgive others.
