SPIRITUAL POWERS
Dag Heward-Mills
READ: 2 Kings 3:21-4:1

For the preaching of the cross is...the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
The cross is the symbol of Christianity. The preaching of the cross is the preaching of sacrifice. It is also the preaching of power. As Christians, we should preach about the cross. We must be proud of the cross of Jesus Christ. It is the symbol of the church, and a symbol of obedience and sacrifice! The Bible tells us in the verse we read, that the preaching of Christ is foolishness to those that are perishing, but unto us, it is the power of God.
Sacrifices release spiritual power! This explains why many demonic rituals involve some kind of sacrifice of animals and sometimes of human beings. The king of Moab sacrificed his son when he saw that he was losing a battle with the Israelites. The sacrifice turned away the approaching armies. Power was released by sacrificing the king's son. This saved his life and saved the lives of his people. Learn this principle - sacrifice will always release power. Many pastors and leaders of churches are powerless because they make no sacrifices for the Lord and have no intention to.
Some years ago, the church in Switzerland was very powerful. They sent missionaries to Ghana, even though they could not speak Ghanaian languages.
If I were to send people to certain places for missionary work, there would be an outcry. This is why there is no power in our ministries. There is power when there is sacrifice!
