Hi, I'm a very new Christian and am not sure where to start. Any help please. :-)

Welcome!

I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite, and I look forward to having fellowship with you.

I assume that you're talking about what to do as a new Christian. I would first suggest that you find a good church to attend - one that teaches the Bible. Visit some churches and find one that you are comfortable in.

The next thing I would suggest is a good study Bible or a Bible study program for your computer. I highly recommend the freeware e-Sword Bible study program. Tons of free materials are available for it, and it's easy to learn how to use.

The next thing I would suggest is that you start studying the Bible, either directed by your church and/or on your own. John is a beautiful Book to begin with.

Christians Unite also has a huge assortment of excellent Christian materials you can read.

I hope this helps you some.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello Sebastian,

Welcome to the forum. I, too, look forward to some great Christian fellowship with you.

We highly recommend that you do not post your email address on the forum and that you 'hide' it in your profile. Otherwise you will get many emails that you certainly won't want.

Hi, I'm new here, but been a Christian for a while. Got to second what Tom said, e-sword is great and free. Just thinking about what I wish I had been told early on and 2 things come to mind
1) Dig deep into the Word, don't just read it, study it. But don't fall into the trap of not seeing the forest for the trees. Read the whole Bible, cover to cover, and get the big picture first. I would suggest starting with the Gospels. That will give you the proper context for the rest.
2) Hang on to your "first love". You are probably very much in love with Jesus right now, and willing to do anything that He asks. Some older believers may be put off by your passion and what they see as your naivety. That was my experience. A well meaning brother in the Lord told me that I was "having a mountaintop experience" and that it would end. But the first love doesn't have to end, in fact it should not. That being said, you will have tests, you will have trials and the emotional rush may fade. When that begins to happen, as soon as you see it, press in to Him, seek Him and don't give up.

Hello and welcome.

I would advise asking God that He would help you understand the Scriptures.

The disciples walked with the Lord for about 3 years and never had a grasp on the Scriptures.  However, after Christ rose from the dead and was walking with them "He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures."  (Luke 24: 45).

A born again believer in Christ has been indwelt by the Holy Spirit.  Among many other wonderful things, the Holy Spirit can help us understand the Scriptures.

King Solomon could have asked for treasure or anything.......but he asked God for wisdom.  This was very pleasing to God.

In the first chapter of James.......here is God's promise to His children:

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."   (James 1: 5-6)

So pray to God sincerely and earnestly for wisdom and discernment.

Satan continues as prince of this world until Christ returns.  Not only is he a murder........but he is a liar and a master at half truths.  He tempted Eve with half truths in the garden and also with our Lord in the desert.  These half truths sound good on the surface........but they are not from God.

He has thus far been very successful and broken up the church into many different splinter groups......because of differences and twists in doctrine.  The body of Christ however will be re-united as one when our Lord returns.

I am very happy for you.  When a new person gives themselves to our Lord Jesus Christ........there is much singing and joy in heaven.

Jesus:  "Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
