Hi to all and most of Christianity , believes in the so-called Great Commission of Matt 28:19 .

Go ye therefore , and teach all  ETHNOS /NATIONS , BAPTIZING  them .

I will at this time focus on one of the key word in this text , and that is nation/ethnos .

 This Greek word , ETHNOS , is translated by the following English words ;

 #1 , Nation
 #2 , Gentile
 #3 , Heathen
 #4 , Jews

In Matt 10:5 and 6  , notice that way that it is used here , v5 ;  Go not into the way of the ETHNOS/GENTILES  !

And into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not !!

But go rather to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel .

Then in Acts 10:22 we see a different use of the Greek word ETHNOS .   Cornelius had a good report among all the ETHNOS/NATION  of the JEWS .

This is what Matt 28:19 is really speaking to in verse 19 ,  NOT  the Gentiles  , BUT   where the Jews  were scattered among the Roman empire .

John the Baptist , first came to Israel , BUT they killed their  MESSIAH  and the Kingdom of Heaven was set aside in Acts 28:28 , and this is what is called the near view of the Prophecy of Joel 2 .

The Far view , is when the 144,000 preach the gospel of  the Kingdom during the Tribulation and complete what John the Baptist started in Matt 3 !

So , that means that the commission of Matt 28:19 and 20 are to the Jews scattered world wide and not to Gentiles as most believe .

The 144,000 will have command of the Languages of the world and will complete what John began , and by  CONTEXT the Gentiles are not seen here .

Dan,

You are forgetting some key points here.  There are many different qualifiers in the sentences that determine what is being discussed at these different times.  And context is vitally important.

First Matthew 10.  Jesus is telling the disciples to go and spread the Gospel to the Jews.  This is a select mission that Jesus sent the disciples to accomplish.  We know this not only  because of the initial commands, but we also know that the story continues when they get back.

Acts 10.  Here you forget the qualifier of "of the Jews" that lets us know we are speaking to a very select group of individuals.

While Matthew 28 has no qualifiers...no limiters to the reference here, except "all".

Sorry but the logic you used is a bit faulty and the only logical conclusion for Matthew 28 is that we are to go to 'all' nations no matter what race, religion, or anything else they proclaim to be.

Hi Brother Jerry , and you have pointed out why most believers look at the context and the context in Matthew is all Jewish !

If , you disagree , point out where it is talking about the Body of Christ ?

Dan your reply is failure.

Please point out where all of Matthew is Jewish first off.  There is nothing of the sort for that basis.  And you have posited nothing for support of such a stance.

As to the body of Christ bit, again in the context of your discussion that is irrelevant.  And you have done nothing to bring relevance to that point.

Hi Brother Jerry , and I see that you did not take the challenge to point out where the Body of Christ is mentioned in the book of Matthew , but PASSED and I will be glad to point out many Jewish context in Matthew .

#1 , Matt 3:5 , where Jews went out of Jerusalem and Judaea ?

#2 , How about Matt 3:9 , raise up children unto Abraham ?

#3 , How do you explain Matt 5:17 , where Jesus came to fulfil the Law ?

#4 , And here is a good one for you , in Matt 10:5 and 6 , do not got to the Gentiles or Samaritans  , but go rather to the Lost Sheep of the house of Israel .

#5 , Here is one in John 1:31 , And I knew Him not , but that He should be made  MANIFEST/OR  KNOWN   to Israel  , therefore am I come  BAPTIZING   with  Water .  Notice John was  NOT  Baptizing Gentiles  , but Jews , and you are failure if you can not reply in CONTEXT  .

And these are a tiny list !!

Yes it is a tiny list...because your argument is tiny.

You cherry pick verses and try and say that all of Matthew is for the Jews?!  That is like saying that because Genesis 2 mentions creating a woman that the entire Bible is strictly for women.

I did not worry about the body of Christ bit, because it was completely and utterly irrelevant to the discussion.  So what if Matthew never has reference to it.  The Gospel writers are not exact copies of each other.  John does not show the angels in the tomb while the others do...that does not mean that John is not showing the resurrection.

Sorry Dan...but your argument here has absolutely no substance.  I can cite later verses in Matthew, such as the great Commission verse that express that Jesus wanted us to go to the Gentiles, that His message was for the Gentiles, just as the Samarian woman at the well, as recorded also in Matthew.  Your case has more holes in it than a screened porch.

If you had a good argument , with would have shown how  ETHNOS  is used , instead of saying that I have no substance , really amusing , dan p
