My mother is going in for an Alzheimer's test today, to see if she's got it...she has been very depressed lately, and needs some encouragement from the Lord. She has watched her mother mentally dying with Alzheimer's, and is afraid. I am "cheering" her as well as I know how, but some extra support would be wonderful! (Her doctor may not put her through tests today, but may reschedule.)

Yes, ma'am, Willow.  Will be happy to pray for your mother and you too, in this.

Thank you, Jesus... Smiley

Mothers and Fathers are so important (Duh! I guess that's why there is so much about them in the Bible.)

I lost both of mine years ago and the void was never filled.

Willow - you and your mom are being prayed for!  Smiley

Thanks, folks!  Cheesy

As far as we know, she doesn't have Alzheimer's, although it would be hard to find it right now in the early stages. The doctor diagnosed her with depression, which is much better, since it can go away. She's got a four-month prescription to take for it.

Thanks, BEP.

Well, she's off the medicine - is made her swell pretty bad, and she was having constant headaches, insomnia, etc. She's doing all right - she's trying to deal with depression spiritually, not medically.

Sorry to hear about your mom, Willow.   Will keep her in my prayers.

Have you checked any alternatives for depression?  Taken properly, St. John's Wort (an herb) works pretty well.  I think herbs are God's medicine opposed to man made chemicals.  Not that I'm against prescription medicine but I do think they should be a last resort.  An example of my reasoning is just because of what happened to your mom when she took it.  You might want to check into some alternatives.  An imbalance of vitamins and/or minerals can cause depression, too.  Off the top of my head, I think I read that a lack of one or more B vitamins can cause depression.  Is she eating properly?  Also, I'm sure you know that just a little exercise daily can help tremendously with depression. It REALLY does help.  It releases endorphins in the brain (the feel good chemicals).

Father, I pray for Willow's mom.  I ask for wisdom for both of them.  Lord, lead them to the correct therapy.  Give them both courage, strength and patience.  Bless both of them in every area of their lives.  Thank you Lord God for answered prayer, all in the name of your son, Jesus.
