St. Louis Honors Joyce Meyer Ministries for Outstanding Humanitarian and Community Service

by Staff
October 9, 2009

ST. LOUIS, (christiansunite.com) -- With a legacy history of giving back and helping others, Joyce Meyer Ministries will be recognized with a special resolution for outstanding humanitarian and community service by the City of St. Louis during a special 10 a.m. worship service at the St. Louis Dream Center on Sunday, October 11, 2009. Joyce Meyer will be on hand to accept the honor from city alderman Antonio French and deliver a special message during the service.

"We're both humbled and honored by this recognition of our steadfast commitment and efforts to make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors and residents throughout the city and region," said Joyce Meyer. "Wanting nothing more than to be a blessing to others, we intentionally established the Dream Center in the 21st ward because we want to make a difference in our own community, not just other parts of the world -- and we're committed to being here long- term to help them improve their quality of life."

The resolution was sponsored and will be presented by 21st Ward Alderman Antonio French. "We're very pleased to recognize the long-standing leadership and humanitarian contributions of Joyce Meyer Ministries and the positive, substantive and real impact their efforts have made in the lives of countless residents throughout this ward," said Alderman French.

The St. Louis Dream Center was founded by Dave and Joyce Meyer and is an integral part of the Joyce Meyer Ministries family. In addition to its multiple feeding and charitable programs, outreach and assistance efforts, and relentless community advocacy, the Dream Center has a vested goal to further develop strong, productive relationships with municipal, school, human service, law enforcement, business and civic leaders throughout the city.

"The work we do on behalf of others is consistent with our vision, mandate and charge that we are indeed our brother's keeper and must do everything we can to be a blessing to not only each other, but especially to those who are less fortunate," said Senior Pastor Jeff Allensworth.

Also in attendance will be Dr. Kelvin Adams, Superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools, who has been a strong, supportive partner of the Dream Center's afterschool, student and youth initiatives and programs. During the service, Dr. Adams will be recognized for his vigorous leadership and a special prayer will offered for him, along with his staff, city educators and every student -- from grade school to high school -- throughout the greater-St. Louis community.

In addition, in recognition of the selfless sacrifice of our men and women in the armed services, on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Dream Center will host a special free luncheon for 120 Army Military Police (MP) and their families from the 354th Military Police Company here in St. Louis prior to their deployment and, for some, return to combat duty in Iraq. This will represent the last date they will be able to spend time with their families as the MPs will be leaving Missouri on October 11. Approximately 600 meals will be served and the special luncheon will be held at McCluer/Berkley South High School, 501 Brotherton in Ferguson, MO.

The St. Louis Dream Center is located at 4324 Margaretta Avenue, St. Louis, MO.
