Seeking Answers?
My Grandpa McCann passed on when I was around 10 yrs old. He was not an overly religious man and although he rarely went to church he did believe quite strongly in having a relationship with God. I can clearly remember going fishing with him. I wasn't much for the fishing part but I really looked forward to those personal times with my Grandpa whether it was fishing, checking the bait traps, walking through the fruit orchard, picking some vegetables from Dad's garden, hand feeding and talking with the squirrels or just spending time at his house. I especially enjoyed the many conversations that we would have at those times.
I learned so much from him. I tried to ask as many questions as I could and he never seemed to mind answering them all no matter how silly some of them may have seemed to him. Everytime I would ask a question at least a portion of his first statement would always consist of the words "turn to God". It would be "Hmmm ... let's turn to God" or "Turn to God for that answer," or "Let's turn to God and see what He has to say about it." He had told me that God answers our questions in many ways. He said that the Bible was full of answers if we would just open the pages and search for them. He also told me that many answers to our questions were given to us in the things around us.
I asked him what he meant by that. How do the things around us give us answers from God? I didn't hear them saying anything. He said that we must sometimes listen with our eyes or hearts instead of our ears and then he continued on to give a few examples. How can we tell if it is going to be a cold or mild winter? He then told me about the verses in Matthew where Jesus tells us how God cares for the birds. He said that God cares for all of his creation in that manner and has provided for them. If it is going to be an exceptionally cold winter the animals will put away extra food and their coats will become extra think. If it's going to be an early winter the birds head south earlier than usual. The same is true of the summer months. If it is going to be a cool summer the animals won't loose all of their winter coat. God ensures that each of them has exactly what they need from food to water to the means to survive in heat or cold.
Isn't that awesome? In Mat 6 He also tells us that we are worth more than the animals. As such He will provide for us in the same manner. God gives us the information that we need if we but pay attention to what He is saying, if we but "turn to God." He has given us the greatest answer of them all. Jesus Christ, Son of God, very God in the flesh, creator of all things. He and He alone is the only way, the only truth and the life eternal. Without Him we will never see that eternal life but rather we will be doomed as the sinners that we all are to an eternal torment, an eternal death.
Look at all that is around you and see the fact that God is the creator of all that. It could not be by just some "accident." Believe in Him, repent and ask Him into your life as Lord and Saviour and you can also see that eternal life through Him.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Salvation, salvation from death under the law by God's perfect grace.
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Rom 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Rom 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
