WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- As a twenty-year veteran neocon activist it is unusual for me to be happy to watch from the sidelines. But as my political opponents do all my work I find myself relaxing and watching the show.
After being accused of spinning the press and using disruptive tactics and sound-bite manipulation to impact everything from the abortion debate to Terri Schiavo's fate; I can honestly say that at this time my services are not needed.
I certainly am not needed as long as we have a White House Advisor on Healthcare, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, saying it is wrong to view the "Hippocratic Oath's admonition to 'use my power to help the patient to the best of my ability and judgment' as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others."
So we know how they expect to pay for this plan. Long term care should be rationed like battlefield triage -- spend doc's time only with those deemed most likely to survive. But triage based on "cost" versus benefit, with all the compassion of the IRS. And don't forget to factor in the age of the patient.
With this plan to use a cost versus benefit formula to determine who is worthy of health care; will they factor in sexual orientation? Statistically a homosexual's life expectancy is far below the average, so will government appointees cut costs by limiting the treatments offered to homosexuals?
Another reason I am not needed is the video tape (3) of President Obama saying he is for single-payer universal healthcare before saying he is against it. Telling the American voter he can't back a single-payer plan [now wink, wink] because it would cause too much of a disruption. But he can start us down the path that will create single-payer universal healthcare in about ten years (the time it will take for the system to go broke and have no private alternative left).
In my uselessness I even find myself promoting a rag of the far left, Salon, whom has skewered me by name more than once. This week Camille Paglia wrote, "The bureaucracy required to institute and manage a nationalized health system here would be Byzantine beyond belief and would vampirically absorb whatever savings Obama thinks could be made." And, "... who would have thought that the sober, deliberative Barack Obama would have nothing to propose but vague and slippery promises -- or that he would so easily cede the leadership clout of the executive branch to a chaotic, rapacious, solipsistic Congress?"
Remember, this is from one of Obama's most outspoken supporters. Paglia opines,"You can keep your doctor; you can keep your insurance, if you're happy with it, Obama keeps assuring us in soothing, lullaby tones. Oh, really? And what if my doctor is not the one appointed by the new government medical boards for ruling on my access to tests and specialists? And what if my insurance company goes belly up because of undercutting by its government- bankrolled competitor? Face it: Virtually all nationalized health systems, neither nourished nor updated by profit-driven private investment, eventually lead to rationing."
Fighting this healthcare plan is like; what? Shooting fish in a barrel? Ducks on a pond? All I need to do is add a catchy label, so here goes, Hillary Care II -- The "No-Choice" Act. Like it? Doesn't really matter what you call it -- it will herald in a 2012 conservative victory.
