I have very mild autism, but that still affects my people skills. I feel like I cause my parents a lot of grief and stress because of it. My parents are atheists, see. I feel like I was sent by God as a punishment to them for rejecting Him. I feel so terrible!

Hello botl,

God does not send children under any situations as a punishment to parents. Children are a wonderful blessing from God and this includes those children with autism, ADD, Downs syndrome, or any other such condition. Just as the song says, they are all precious in His sight as they should be for us all.

Mat 10:29  Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Mat 10:30  But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Mat 10:31  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Be of good faith and trust God.  How do you know that you weren't sent as a witness of Christ and that your parents may eventually come to a saving knowledge of the Lord through you!  Praise God!

Amen, to her parents or any number of other people. Many times we are blessings to others without ever knowing it.

You don't know my parents. They're never gonna change their minds. I still pray for them, even though I know it's hopeless.

I could not help but ead your post as I use to feel the same before the Lord saved me.  Have you ever read Psalm 27?

I will be praying for you

Sincerely,

I have to tell you...as the mother of an autistic child, you are a blessing!  Please never think you are a punishment!

Hello heartbrokenintexas,

Welcome to the forums. I also want to say that such parents as you are also a blessing.

God love you dear one He love you so much that He died for you and He wants the best you.  He cares for your soul and your feelings go to him in prayer and seek his face for your pain and give that pain to Jesus the one who made you.  He new you was going to have this problem and He does not make and thing that is not good.  Yes we are sinners an our actions and our sin does align up with his perfection but he cares about your feelings so go to him and trust God for your life and he will give the desires of your heart.
