What's your hobby?

A lot of us have hobbies, but we don't seem to talk about it much.
I collect die cast cars and truck, as well as vintage toys, but the conversation rarely comes up when I'm chatting with friends...weird huh?

I love my hobby and decided to start a forum where I could show off my stuff, and where others can show their stuff off.

I have a colelction of die cast cars, such as Hotwheels and Corgi, and Matchbox etc, of over 1,000 pieces!
Recently, I started customing and restoreing them. That is relly fun because I can take an old wreck that is scratched amd missing paint, or parts, heck, I can even take cars that have been stomped on and bring them back to their former glory!!

I also do a little oil painting, landscapes and seascapes, but I want to try my hand at animals.
My toy collection is fairly large too! Just ask my wife!! LOL!

Anyway, I got to thinking about it and I thought I'd put this "Hobby House" forum together. So if anyone has a hobby they want to show off, or even learn about, come on over and post pics of your stuff.

There's even a tutorial section in case you'd like to teach others about your craft.
It's a family forum, and I encourage lots of talk about Jesus as well!!
The Lord gives us these things to keep us amused and to allow us to create. He is the greatest creator and we are His children, so it makes sense right?

I thank Jesus for my family and home and food on the table of course, but I also thank Him for my pets, and for my hobbies and colections.

Anyway here's the link for those interested.
It's brand spanking new, so only two of us at present. Perhaps Pastor Roger will join and show iff his models???

Is it ok to poste links here still?
if not please forgive me and I will remove it.

Hello Brother John,

I have tried the link, and I copied the error message I got for you below:

Quote
Sorry, Xsorbit was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

The closest thing I have to a hobby is making Christian graphics, and I haven't done many recently. My son used to do some collecting of Coca Cola memorabilia, but that's been a few years ago now. He did think at one time that he wanted to start a collection on scale cars, and he did for a short time and went to the Navy. His collection is very small but nice. I might add that his small collection was a great investment and is now worth about 20 times what it was at the beginning. I understand that some folks do make pretty good money in trading these cars. Regardless, good luck with the site.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I did have a lot of models of ships but I've had to give them up due to lack of space. Mostly what I do in the way of a hobby now is sewing and machine embroidery.

Don't you play computer games? I would consider that somewhat of a hobby.

Hello Brother David,

Participating in forums could be considered to be a hobby, and Christian forums would make that a wholesome hobby. You also have the opportunity to help a lot of people who are in desperate need of THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.

Brother David, you might consider working with Christian graphics. You already have the computer, and there are numerous excellent and free programs to use. It's time consuming to learn, but many of the simple graphics are easy to learn how to do. It just becomes more difficult with the complex graphics and especially those that involve animation. I find it relaxing and fun to do when I get a chance. I know that I'm on a different operating system that you are, but I might still have some ideas for you if you're interested.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello Brother David,

I'm going to the hospital tomorrow for some tests and procedures. I'll put something together for you when I get back. I do have some ideas and some links to some sites somewhere that even help folks start with graphics. To start with, I recommend a very simple and free program called DeKnop button maker. You should be able to get it at most of the best software distributors (i.e. CNET, Softpedia, Tucows, Snapfiles). DeKnop even has some sample graphics to begin with and excellent instructions.

In the meantime:

Love In Christ,
Tom

HEY!  These are really COOL!  How fun!
I have LOTS of hobbies and not much time to do them with working full time and having my grandson every other week.  I'm waiting for him to wake up right now so we can get to playing.  I promised him yesterday I'm play matchbox cars with him today!
I also sew, craft, crochet, paint, write poetry, play computer games and read.  LOTS of reading.  And like BEP says.  The forums here can be considered a hobby and it's probably the one I do the most too!
Love your Graphics Brother David!

my first graphic

YEAH! - You did great!

Now it's just a matter of using your imagination, mixing colors, using various sizes, playing with fonts and sizes of fonts, choosing your message, etc. Animations are just a series of slightly different graphics tied together with a set delay time and method of changing from one graphic to the next.

Brother David, it looks like you already have a GREAT START! You would be surprised to find out how many people want Christian graphics of all kinds, and Bible verses are the most popular. Many people also want graphics for their signature for use in emails and on forums. I think they're fun to do and many people enjoy them. I did copy the one with my name on it. I also considered this to be something I could do for the LORD.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello friends.

Here's a new address which will work for you.

Yes, computer games is a hobby, I have a few myself and I really enjoy them. There are many hobbies we can share my friends. I'd love to see your embroidery p.r.

We have four or five members now and it seels to be taking off quite nice considering I don't have any search engines at work for me.
I'm going to get my wife to post some invites on the bullitin boards at the grocery store and other places in town here.

Take care my friends.
