Christian Coalition of America Promotes 'Citizenship Sunday' to 'Get Out the Christian Vote'

by Staff
September 17, 2008

WASHINGTON, (christiansunite.com) -- Billy Graham once commented: "In a world that might say one vote doesn't matter.,it does matter because each person is of infinite worth and value to God.Your vote is a declaration of importance as a person and a citizen."

Voting is the most foundational of all American institutions. Our Founding Fathers believed strongly in the right of all Americans to participate in their government. Succeeding centuries have seen voting rights secured by an ever-increasing segment of the population.

Unfortunately, however, only half of those Americans who are eligible to vote are registered to do so. And equally disheartening is the fact that the percentages among Christians mirror those of America as a whole.

At Christian Coalition, we are dedicated to seeing every Christian register to vote. That is why we are sponsoring Citizenship Sundays in local congregations all across America.

I am very encouraged by the increased conservative mandate in the 2004 election; the increase brought on by pro-family voters. It is my belief that these Citizenship Sundays can ensure a continuance of the trend into 2008 and beyond.

In order for Citizenship Sunday to be a success, we are asking churches across the nation to get involved and sponsor a Citizenship Sunday voter registration day.

We must see the political tide of this nation continue to turn away from liberalism and toward traditional family values in legislatures all across the land.

We have simplified the process of voter registration by setting up a website for Voter Registration Info for your state so that anyone can easily find out how to register and vote in their state. Also, we have provided tips for Citizenship Sunday to help churches with process of holding a voter registration in their own church. www.cc.org/register_vote
