I've had pain for years. I think it's the trigeminal area. So that I have something like trigeminal neuralgia. It's in the facial area.  It's more like a tickling sensation. I can't get the doctors to heal it or pay attention to me. My prayers aren't answered. I still have it. I would like an answer from a Bible scholar about this. Internally I'm cussing at someone.

Hello blane,

Welcome to Christians Unite forums.

You say that you want answers from a Bible scholar. What exactly is the question that you want answers to? There are a number of questions that come to mind when reading your post so would be a bit more precise?

Hello Blane,

WELCOME!

I'm not a Bible scholar, but I don't think your question needs one.

1)  GOD never promised Christians an easy time in this life, rather the opposite.

2)  Many Christians have crippling pain and disabilities for many years, and we all die.

3)  The Apostle Paul had a painful medical problem that he prayed GOD would remove. GOD did not grant Paul's request.

4)  Regardless, your attitude about your ailment is wrong. Cursing isn't going to get you anything from GOD or man. All people, including Christians, are eventually going to suffer with illness or disability. By suffer, I would be referring to real pain, not just tickling.

Romans 8:16-28 NASB  The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,  17  and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.  18  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.  19  For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.  20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope  21  that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.  22  For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.  23  And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.  24  For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?  25  But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.  26  In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;  27  and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

I would just be curious to know if you think you should somehow be immune from illness, injury, or pain. If so, you would be the only human in history Everyone else gets hurt, has illness, and eventually dies. As humans, this is part of our inheritance from Adam. As Christians, this is a fact of life and a Biblical fact.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Christian Quotes 332 -
"God created things which had free will. That means creatures which
can go either wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a
creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong; I
cannot. If a thing is free to be good it is also free to be bad. And
free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them
free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also
the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth
having."

Hi Blane,

When you say doctors are you referring to your primary care doctor or a specialist...a neurologist i would think would be the one to assess treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.  As far as prayer goes it is my honest opinion that things happen to us in this life for us to grow, if nothing happened Blane would be a dull boy  Wink.  The Lord leads us on a journey to make us a good and faithful servant,  i believe.  Therefore, the pain or tickling may never leave.  I also believe the Lord allows things to happen to draw us closer to him.  For instance, my mom at 55 years old had had two heart valves replaced and one repaired from Rheumatic fever as a child.  If you know much about the heart you know you have only four.  She had to go on a blood thinner as you do when you have mechanical valves in your heart.  Still worked and worked like a man I might add...at Walmart in lawn and garden and then home in her flower beds, garden, house etc... just super active.  Well her blood kept getting thick then thin thick then thin.  One day she was out mulching in her flower beds and she had a stroke...i'm not talking a small stroke, I am talking a major stroke.  We did'nt think she was gonna make it.  They had to take part of her skull out to let her brain swell.  It has been a little over a year now and she has had a total of 10 surgeries in that year and looking at another to put a skull back in because her skull they finally put back in she rejected.  But two extraordinary things came from that Blane.  The first is that I know if my mom had died then she would not have gone to heaven, since she has started going back to church and after a leg surgery can walk some with a walker...she should be a vegetable to be honest, but the Lord gives blessings even in the worst storms.  I prayed at that time if i was not being to selfish i could have just a little more time with my mom.  I'm only 37 and she was 55 at the time how is that enough time to spend with my best friend.  She is a different person now in alot of ways I still lost alot of my mom but I still have her and she now has a chance to get to heaven.  I don't even want to think about the pain she has endured...it breaks my heart...sometimes i wonder if I was the selfish one but I know she would not have went to heaven.  The second thing that happened is that I learned and still sometimes struggle with the fact that I cannot depend on "SELF"!  I had for the first time in my life absolutely no control...none.  I gave it all to the Lord and he blessed me both through growing me into a better christian and also keeping my mom with me just a little longer and giving her the opportunity to enter the gates of heaven.  What has happened to her health wise will never 100% recover and yours may not as well, but there is always a reason, always!  And we are on this earth but just for a blink of a eye really...i'm 37 and it has flew by.  So just keep faith and pray for the Lord to heal you and also pray that if that is not his will that he leads you where he wants you and be open to that as well, and ask for relief if it is not his will for you to be healed.  All things happen for a reason, and it is all to glorify the Lord!

Please let me share my testimony too.

Being in bed all the time, can't move and have pain and yet I am happy, why? Because I have accepted Jesus as my savior. I know my pain is temperary. As I think about my journey, I think where I would be if I had not accepted Jesus at a young age.

I was 12 and been to church for years and learned about God. One night I just accepted Jesus and felt good, but still had much to learn.

When I was 16 I got really sick. I had tubes in my nose and throat, I wanted to die. I asked God why am I going through this and felt he didn't love me. Soon I got a trach, it was scary for a while but I was thankful for it. A few weeks later I was weaned off the ventilator but a few days later, lungs collapsed. I went back on the ventilator. The doctor thought it was time to let go but I wanted to live. I would need ventilator at night.

Later that year I got an apartment with my brother Josh. I knew for sure God loved me.

When I was 20 I needed more care and needed to be in a hospital. I was sad but God gave me what I need. Everything wasn't good though, since I couldn't get to church, God was put into the background. Around May 2005 (22 at the time) I realized I didn't know God as much anymore and that scared me. I asked God to help me know him and be close to him again. It took a while but now I know him well and I feel him again.

Now I thank him every day for everything he has given me. I thank him for helping me through hard times. I thank him for staying with me. I thank him for his love and mercy.

I shared this not to say I have it worse but to show you that, you need to focus on what is good in life that God has given you.

David that is a powerful testimony...I don't know why things happen the way they do and it often seems not right, but the Lord has the bigger plan.  My husband hurt his back a little over four years ago at work...a severe injury and he is never pain free ever!  I could go on and on about the things that have happened recently in my life...have I gotten depressed sure, do I still get depressed sure...I am human.  But I do know that things have happened for a reason...i honestly would have never seen me or my family going to church and becoming christians had my husband not got hurt.  Has it been hard?  Tremendously!  Will my husband ever be free of pain even with medication...probably not...he asks the Lord to heal him but that if that is not his will then make the pain bearable.  But I feel confident the Lord has a bigger plan for us, I am confident he will see us through all of this!!!  Bless you David and Bless you Blane and may the Lord touch each of you!

I changed the link to the video at Youtube to the same video at Godtube. Youtube allows to much garbage to posted that is not fit for Christian forums. I hope that you understand.

Brothers and Sisters,

I first want to say AMEN! to Brother David for his beautiful testimony. He spoke volumes, and I'm sure that it pleased GOD.

Why do many Christians suffer during this short life? There are many Biblical facts that seem to give us hints. It certainly isn't because GOD hates us or doesn't care about us. We already know that the opposite is true. We should also know that some of the most powerful testimonies for GOD come from Christians who are ill or in pain. We are actually talking about GOD'S Perfect Will that is many times misunderstood by us. We will understand GOD'S Perfect Will better in the Eternity to come.

Brothers and Sisters, there are many things about the MIGHT, MAJESTY, POWER, GLORY, GRACE, and LOVE of GOD that even Christians in this short life don't understand very well. We are just humans - so how could we? We can read about what GOD wants us to know in HIS WORD. HE'S told us a lot, and it's all completely TRUE! Many portions of the Holy Bible indicate that those closest to JESUS during his earthly ministry didn't understand much either, but they grew in strength and knowledge. They eventually became martyrs. JESUS told Peter that he would deny HIM three times shortly before HIS crucifixion, and Peter did. Peter went on to study, preach, and grow in the strength of CHRIST. Peter's end was also crucifixion, and Peter asked to be crucified upside-down. The Apostle Paul spent the younger portion of his life hunting, persecuting, and killing Christians - BUT Paul was converted and accepted CHRIST. Paul was used in mighty ways for the GLORY of GOD, but Paul was beaten, imprisoned, and persecuted in horrible ways for most of his ministry. Paul's end was beheading. Those closest to CHRIST eventually understood many things about GOD, and they testified of those things. They could have run and gone into hiding, but they willingly went forward to their ends. Their living testimonies are in the Holy Bible for GOD'S Reasons and GOD'S Will.

Love In Christ,
Tom

David you have beautiful testimony. You spoke volumes, and I'm sure that it does please our Lord

Hello blane, and welcome to Christians Unite forum.

Yes I will pray for you.

I myself suffer with pain, everyday. No you never grow use to the pain, but I've seen God use my pain in a positive way. I suffer from from fibromyalgia, myofacial pain syndrome, and back pain (3 metal rods inserted).

Job 33:17-18 My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest 18 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

Job complained of his diseases, and judged by them that God was angry with him; his friends did so too: but Elihu shows that God often afflicts the body for good to the soul. This thought will be of great use for our getting good from sickness, in and by which God speaks to men. Pain is the fruit of sin; yet, by the grace of God, the pain of the body is often made a means of good to the soul. When afflictions have done their work, they shall be removed.

A ransom or propitiation is found. Jesus Christ is the Messenger and the Ransom, so Elihu calls him, as Job had called him his Redeemer, for he is both the Purchaser and the Price, the Priest and the sacrifice. So high was the value of souls, that nothing less would redeem them; and so great the hurt done by sin, that nothing less would atone for it, than the blood of the Son of God, who gave his life a ransom for many. A blessed change follows. Recovery from sickness is a mercy indeed, when it proceeds from the remission of sin. All that truly repent of their sins, shall find mercy with God.

AMEN AND AMEN!

I can see this is a thread that we can all benefit from and receive a blessing from GOD.

Favorite Bible Quotes 21 - 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 Now this I say,
brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;
neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a
mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall
be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have
put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality,
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave,
where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength
of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved
brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of
the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the
Lord.

This is so true David!  When the women that come through th mission are down, I tell them to start making a list each day of the blessings that they recieve.  No blessing is too small to count.  I want to show them that God is indeed with them on a personal level.  Sometimes we don't see that because we are missing the little things.
What a wonderful Testimony David!  Thank you for sharing it with us!
