Television special tackles assault on Christianity

A television special, billed as an answer to modern critics of Christ, is set to air this weekend.

The special by Coral Ridge Ministries -- called The Attack on Jesus -- is a half-hour documentary designed to answer the assault on classic Christianity that comes from both pop culture and academia.

Dr. Jerry Newcombe, who hosts the special, says Christ is under fire in modern culture -- and the evidence can be seen, he says, in many television specials, books, magazine cover stories, and even movies based on the ideas of supposed "Bible scholars."

"It was our goal to...focus on the Gospels and the reliability of the Gospels [and] [f]ocus on the historicity and resurrection of Jesus Christ...," explains Newcombe.

Newcombe says the documentary also focuses on the fact the Jesus is the only way to God and that his sacrifice is the "only sacrifice for sin." The television host says that Oprah Winfrey – one of the most popular cultural leaders in modern times – claims that she is a Christian and that there are many "paths to God." But Newcombe counteracts that claim by stating that Jesus himself said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father but through me."

The special airs Sunday evening during "The Coral Ridge Hour" time slot.

AMEN!

Thanks for the information. I'll look to see if I have a channel with this program on it. I'd love to see something like this well-done.

Sounds like a very good special and one certainly needed in these days.
