Hi brother David.

This is a subject that is debated quite heavily and does cause confusion for many.

Joh 6:44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Here we see the fact that no one comes to Christ that was not drawn to Him. Rev 3:20 tells us that He stands at the door of our hearts knocking asking for us to let Him in. He is "drawing" us to Him in this action. A part of this debate goes on to determine who is drawn. We see the answer to this in the following verse:

1Ti 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

It is up to us as to whether we answer that knocking and open the door or if we turn a deaf ear to Him.

Hello Brother David,

I agree 100% with the answer Pastor Roger has already given you. GOD doesn't want any man or woman to die in their sins under the curse of sin and death, but that doesn't mean that GOD will force anyone to accept HIM.

2 Peter 3:9 NASB
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Love in Christ,
Tom

Thank you both for your answers.  That was a good question Brother David, and one that I have wondered about myself many times and yet comes so clear and logical when it is explained.

Amen,

Many stumble when those verses are used without the context of the rest of the Bible.  I often think of a more modern parable of the beggar and the rich man.  The rich man pulls up in his Limo next to the beggar.  He reaches out his hand and holds out a fist full of money to the beggar.  It is now up to the beggar to reach up and take that gift.

The rich man is God and He has to offer His gift of salvation if we are to be saved.  The Bible tells us that he is offering that gift.  And in order to be a just God the offer truly has to go to all, and the Bible clearly states that God's gift of salvation is for all people.  So God is driving around in that limo and handing out money to each and every person.  Now it is up to us beggars to reach out and take that gift.
