Here is a quick look into 3 former Fannie Mae executives who have helped bring Wall Streetdown and then their relationship to Obama.
 
 
Franklin Raines was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae.  Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Maewhen auditing discovered severe irregulaties in Fannie Mae's accounting activities. At the time of his departure The Wall Street Journal noted, " Raines, who long defended the company's accounting despite mounting evidence that it wasn't proper, issued a statement late Tuesday conceding that "mistakes were made" and saying he would assume responsibility as he had earlier promised. News reports indicate the company was under growing pressure from regulators to shake up its management in the wake of findings that the company's books ran afoul of generally accepted accounting principles for four years."  Fannie Mae had to reduce its surplus by $9 billion.   Raines left with a "golden parachute valued at $240 Million in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear. (You can read more about the scandal and his charges at housingdoom.com)
The Government noted, "The 101 charges reveal how the individuals improperly manipulated earnings to maximize their bonuses, while knowingly  neglecting accounting systems and internal controls, misapplying over twenty accounting principles and misleading the regulator and the public. The Notice explains how they submitted six years of misleading and inaccurate accounting statements and inaccurate capital reports that enabled them to grow Fannie Mae in an unsafe and unsound manner" These charges were made in 2006.  The Court ordered Raines to return $50 Million Dollars he received in bonuses based on the miss-stated Fannie Mae profits.   

Tim Howard -  Was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae. Howard "was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a "stable pattern of earnings" at Fannie. In everyday English - he was cooking the books.  The Government Investigation determined that, "Chief Financial Officer, Tim Howard, failed to provide adequate oversight to key control and reporting functions within Fannie Mae,"   On June 16, 2006, Rep. Richard Baker, R-La., asked  the Justice Department to investigate his allegations that two  former Fannie Mae executives lied to Congress in October 2004 when  they denied manipulating the mortgage-finance giant's income statement  to achieve management pay bonuses. Investigations by federal regulators  and the company's board of directors since concluded that management  did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses. Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004.   Howard's Golden Parachute was estimated at $20 Million!   

Jim Johnson -   A former executive at Lehman Brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO.   A look at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's May 2006 report on mismanagement and corruption inside Fannie Mae, and you'll see some interesting things about Johnson. Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million."   Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae.   Johnson's Golden Parachute was estimated at $28 Million.

DNC steps in to silence lawsuit over Obama birth certificate
Democrat suing his own party says it's 'like they're in cahoots'

The man suing Sen. Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee for proof of Obama's American citizenship is outraged that his own party – rather than just providing the birth certificate he seeks – would step in to silence him by filing a motion to dismiss his lawsuit.

As WND reported, prominent Pennsylvania Democrat and attorney Philip J. Berg filed suit in U.S. District Court two months ago claiming Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen and therefore not eligible to be elected president. Berg has since challenged Obama publicly that if the candidate will simply produce authorized proof of citizenship, he'll drop the suit.

Berg told WND the longer the DNC tries to ignore his lawsuit or make it go away – instead of just providing the documents – the more convinced he is that his accusations are correct.

Despite assertions by the Washington Post, FactChecker.org and other organizations that Obama has produced a certified Hawaiian birth certificate, Berg told WND he remains "99.99 percent sure" that the certificate is a fake and he wants a court, not a website, to determine its validity.

Earlier last week, lawyers for Obama and the DNC filed a joint motion to dismiss Berg's lawsuit. The fact that the DNC joined in the dismissal request has Berg fuming, believing his party's leaders have ignored his pleas for proof in order to favor their chosen candidate over a rank-and-file constituent.

"I think it's outrageous," Berg said. "The Democratic National Committee should be ensuring the Democratic Party and the public that they have a qualified candidate up there. To file a joint motion is like they're in cahoots.

"Since then, I have asked by way of press release that Howard Dean resign, because (the DNC members) are not fulfilling their duties," Berg said.

"The DNC has a responsibility to all Democrats in this country to make sure that all of their candidates are properly vetted and properly qualified," Berg added. "I think it's really an outrage to the 18-plus million people who voted for Obama and the people who donated more than $425 million to him under false pretenses."

Berg is frustrated, not only with his own party's leadership for allegedly not investigating Obama's background, but also with the major news outlets for failing as well.

"I should also be suing the national media and their disgrace for not properly vetting, inspecting or checking on Barack Obama.

"Look what they're doing to Governor Palin: They're opening up her closet doors, they're going through everything personal, but no one has ever gone after Obama. It doesn't make sense," Berg said.

Obama's website counters Berg's claims with links to articles that affirm the validity of his citizenship and an image of a Hawaiian birth certificate for Barack Hussein Obama, born in Honolulu, Aug. 4, 1961. The webpage is part of the Obama campaign website's "Fight the Smears" section, an effort to prevent reports that Obama claims are false from disseminating as damaging rumors.

Berg acknowledges that as long as his lawsuit remains outstanding, the public will talk, and he told WND he wants Obama to quickly prove him wrong or the court to quickly prove him right.

"I've been on about 50 radio shows around the country," Berg said, "and on every one I've put out a challenge: Barack Obama, if I'm wrong, just come forth with certified copies of these documents and I'll close down the case."

Berg told WND, "I've had 19 million hits on my website. …Those people talk to other people, now we're up to 20, 30, 40 million people who are aware of this controversy, and it's going to drastically affect the entire election."

When asked what he would do if the DNC succeeded in getting his case dismissed, Berg said he would "immediately file an appeal to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and if we don't get a fair ruling there, immediately to the U.S. Supreme Court."

"We're dealing with the U.S. Constitution and it must be followed," Berg explained. "I want the Constitution enforced; that's my main reason for doing this.

"The real outrage is that there's nothing in our system that provides that a candidate must provide that his qualifications are true and correct before he or she runs, and that safeguard should be put into our system by law," Berg said.

PRE-PRE-Kindergarten is Daytime Adoption: Obama’s Plan

    Barack Obama wants us to believe that he can right every wrong in our lives. One way he wants to do this is by educating everyone beginning at the age of zero. His educational plan is designed to offer daytime adoption of your children - get them off your hands, and mold their minds to Liberal thinking.

    There is only one way to make life better for our children, and that is to hold the parents accountable. How do we do that?

    1) We go back to irresponsible parenting being seen by everyone as a STAIN on the parents.

    2) We go back to reputations being ruined because you ruined your child.

    3) We go back to allowing no excuses for not caring for your child’s emotional well-being.

    4) We go back to basics being taught in schools so that children actually know math and history and science.

    5) We begin keeping the negative influences out of a child’s life, which includes family members, as well as others in the neighborhood.

    6) We continually teach our children about decency, and we don’t blame other races for who we are.

    7) We demand that parents work to put food on the table.

    As a country we have embraced victimhood for terrible parents. We have allowed violence in neighbors and schools, and blamed the majority of Americans for it.

    We have embraced victimhood for jobless parents and fussed over minimum wage issues, and then declared that these parents cannot survive on minimum wage. We no longer expect parents to work to move up in the ranks. We no longer expect at least one parent to go to work everyday and stay at work until quitting time - and stay on the job until promoted. We tolerate money spent for cigarettes, alcohol and drugs - stealing food off the family table and clothing off the backs of our children.

    Society has gone to hell because we are embracing hell.

    America never let’s a child starve for food, but we can do little about a child starving for love. When a child has a foundational background of love and care, when a child is taught “decency” beginning at the age of zero, then that child has a chance at life.

    Getting a leg-up-on life isn’t dependent on education. With love and nurturing, that child will do well when he/she begins pre-kindergarten at the age of four.

    Let us hold parents responsible. Let us demand school choice for all families.

Here’s Obama-Biden’s plan - which only offers daytime adoption.

Barack Obama wants to educate your child beginning as early as the age of “zero.” Mom’s and Dads out there - is that what you want?… and what does it mean that “early childhood education” begins at zero years old?

Barackobama.com provides a downloadable pdf titled PreK-12 Education Fact Sheet detailing Obama-Biden’s $10 billion per year plan to provide “a pre-school agenda that begins at birth.” This is a PRE-PRE-kindergarten plan, and includes child care and child development, as well.

Obama-Biden see this plan as a “Universal Pre-School for all,” which will be voluntary and we must assume, paid for by taxpayers. The “Government” will provide Early Learning Challenge Grants, matched by State funds, with a priority to “children in greatest need.”

We know what this means: we pay the daycare for poor children from zero to five years old. So many children live in such miserable circumstances; I might be in favor of daytime adoption, but let’s face it, there’s no telling what happens to these children while in the care of others…they are so young and defenseless, with teachers with who-knows-what qualifications or intentions. We cannot find teachers to teach upper grades, let alone qualified, loving and caring teachers for infants. At least, parents can be held accountable - but a school full of “teachers…” or so-called teachers?

Obama-Biden also plans to send a sort-of visiting nurse around to see everyone with a child under five years old - referred to in the plan as “the Nurse-family Partnership.” This “nurse,” will use

…proven methods to help improve the mental and physical health of the family by providing counseling on substance abuse, creating and achieving personal goals, and teaching effective methods to nurture children.

Hospitals are crying for nurses. Where will we find nurses qualified to “counsel” and “nurture” others?

On September 10th, Boston.com reported that Senator Obama criticized the McCain education plan:

He took aim at rival Senator John McCain, saying that in three decades ”he has not done one thing to truly improve the quality of public education in our country. … Nothing.

Now consider this: As Chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Barack Obama channeled over $100 million dollars to pet projects, such as the South African Global Village, to celebrate Juneteenth (which replaces our Independence Day in some Black communities). In the years he served as Chairman of the Board, the Annenberg Foundation reported that no measurable improvements were found within the funded projects/schools - absolutely none…it was a dismal and embarrassing report.

Obama worked with Weatherman Underground terrorist, William Ayers, to help fund Ayers’ Small School Project.

Not only did he spend the money irresponsibly, he cheated the children of Chicago out funds to aid in accelerated learning opportunities.

In a November 2007 report, USA Today announced that Obama unveiled his $18 billion education plan. The $18 billion is to cover only “early childhood education, dropout prevention and teacher incentives. What about $10 million PER YEAR he says he needs, on his own webpage, just for early childhood education? As always, the numbers don’t add up.

Do we want this man running our schools? Your right to raise your child is slipping away.

Kenya detains Corsi
during Obama probe
Officials scuttle WND reporter's
news conference on investigation

The government of Kenya is holding WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi in custody at immigration headquarters after police picked him up at his hotel just prior to a scheduled news conference in which he planned to announce the findings of his investigation into Barack Obama's connections in the country.

Corsi, the author of the No. 1 best-selling book "The Obama Nation," was picked up by authorities at his hotel at 9:45 a.m. and is being detained at Nyayo House, the provincial headquarters for Nairobi.

"Just as we were about to start the 10 a.m. press conference at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenyan immigration approached us and detained us," Corsi told WND by telephone this morning. "Tim Bueler, my publicist, and I are now in the immigration offices, with our passports taken. The immigration officer told the press, 'There is no problem, and Dr. Corsi is a friend of Kenya.'"

Corsi had extensive meetings with top Kenyan officials upon his arrival. His visit and his activities during his stay have been well-known to authorities at the highest levels.

A senior immigration official in charge of investigations, Carlos Maluta was quoted by the Associated Press as saying: "We still haven't decided what to do with him."

Despite reports elsewhere to the contrary, Corsi has not been arrested or charged with any offense.

Corsi remains in continual contact with WND editors by telephone and text messaging.

An official with the Kenyan Embassy in Washington said he was unaware of Corsi's detention. Staff with the Kenya Police in Nairobi referred WND to its director of operations, Peter Kavila, for comment. But he could not be reached.

Obama has a long history of connections in Kenya, where his father worked as a government economist. Corsi documented this history in his book and went to Kenya to find answers to lingering questions – particularly about the links between the presidential candidate and Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Corsi had promised a news conference today that would "expose details of deep secret ties between U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and a section of Kenya government leaders, their connection to certain sectoral groups in Kenya and subsequent plot to be executed in Kenya should Senator Obama win the American presidency."

Meanwhile, the management of the hotel where Corsi was scheduled to hold the press conference has repudiated its plans to provide the facility.

In a press release, the hotel said: "We would like to assure our business partners and the public at large that Laico Regency Hotel is a law-abiding institution and does not condone any smear campaigns. The management cannot allow such activities to take place."

Corsi told WND he has been assured he will be released soon. He had planned to leave the country tomorrow, arriving in London first and the U.S. Friday.

A hotel worker in Nairobi told Reuters Corsi was picked up as soon as he walked into the hotel for the scheduled press conference: "He was walking in and then some immigration officers who were following him snatched him. It happened so fast, they just vanished with him."

"Obama is revered in Kenya for his paternal roots here and as a flagbearer for Africa on the international stage," explained the Reuters dispatch.

Kenyan TV station KTN said Corsi may be sent home due to lack of a work permit. However, Corsi met with top officials in Nairobi earlier this week explaining in detail the purpose of his visit and sharing copies of his news releases and books.

Corsi told WND Editor Joseph Farah by telephone that Kenyan authorities claimed they were holding him because the immigration forms his party filled out for customs had been lost.

Corsi was set to show Obama and Odinga have been in direct contact since the senator's visit to Kenya in 2006. He was to claim Obama advised Odinga on campaign strategy and helped him raise money in the U.S. for the Kenya presidential campaign.

Corsi was to report Odinga's 2007 presidential campaign strategy called for exploiting anti-Kikuyu tribal sentiments, claiming victory and charging voter fraud even if the campaign knew the election had been legitimately lost. Odinga, Corsi said, also was willing to fan the flames of ethnic tribal tensions and use violence as a last resort by calling for mass action that led to the destruction of properties, injuries, loss of life and the displacement of over 500,000 Kenyans. The purpose was to compel the Electoral Commission of Kenya to declare him the winner or enable him to declare himself the winner by force.

Even though Odinga has not fulfilled his campaign promises to the Muslims who voted for him, he continues to cause concern among Kenyans because he has not declared his position on Shariah law, Corsi said.

Corsi said Obama remained in active phone contact with Odinga through the New Hampshire Democratic Party primary in January. The Illinois senator continued to support Odinga, he said, turning a blind eye to an agreement signed with Muslims and the post-election violence instigated as part of the campaign strategy.

Obama commandos' teacher disciplined
Suspended for insubordination for slogan-chanting drill squad

A middle school teacher has been suspended for posting a video of his Barack Obama-slogan chanting, arm-waving drill team on YouTube.

The report from Fox News said the teacher, whose name was being withheld by the school district, was suspended today for the video revealing his students chanting lines from Obama talking points and wearing military-style uniforms.

According to Fox News, the school learned about the posting of the video, called "Obama Youth – Junior Fraternity Regiment," and immediately took action.

It shows 10 black male students in 8th or 9th grades from the Urban Community Leadership Academy in Kansas City, a public charter school organized by the University of Central Missouri. They march in the room chanting, "Alpha, omega, alpha, omega."

Although the immediate source of the phrase "alpha omega" likely traces to the black fraternity step team tradition, the deeper source derives from the book of Revelation, which refers to God as the "Alpha and Omega," the first and last letters of the classical alphabet.

That chant soon yields to, "Yes we can."

School superintendent Joyce McGautha was not pleased. She did not approve and does not condone the video. Not only was the teacher suspended, further drill activities were halted.

"Taxpayers have every reason to be upset," she said.

The superintendent said because of the "legal action that we'll probably have to take against the teacher," his identity would be withheld at this point.

The Fox News report said the students studied Obama's economic plan with the teacher, and the superintendent did not know whether the teacher or the students scripted the routine. The group should have also studied Republican John McCain's economic plan, the superintendent said.

The superintendent said many of the school's activities are recorded, and the teacher had been warned in a letter not to put it on the Internet.

Anonymous forum participants on the Fox News site were disdainful of the Democrats.

"The Democratic Party has become taken over by distorted closet socialists," said one.

"Why does this not surprise me in the least, coming from an Obama supporter?" said another. "He deserves to be fired and NEVER allowed to teach again!"

WND reported just last week when nearby Missouri law officials, including public prosecutors, who were reportedly planning to "respond immediately" to any misleading advertisements against Obama if they "might violate Missouri ethics laws," said they were backing off the intimidating implications of that report, promising they have no intention of prosecuting anyone.

As WND reported, prosecuting attorneys Bob McCulloch and Jennifer Joyce originally announced on KMOV-TV in St. Louis their participation in Obama's "Truth Squad," pledging to defend the candidate from untruthful ads with an undefined "immediate" response.

"Whether it is directly attributable to the (McCain) campaign or to one of the soft money operations," McCulloch told the station, "if they're not going to tell the truth, somebody's got to step up and say, 'That's not the truth. This is the truth.'"

The move prompted Missouri's governor to object that the prosecutors were using "police state tactics" to squelch information hurtful to the Obama campaign.

"What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words," wrote Gov. Matt Blunt in a statement. "The party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment."

NAIROBI, Kenya – The government of Kenya is holding WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi in custody at immigration headquarters after police picked him up at his hotel just prior to a scheduled news conference in which he planned to announce the findings of his investigation into Barack Obama's connections in the country.

Corsi, the author of the No. 1 best-selling book "The Obama Nation," was picked up by authorities at his hotel at 9:45 a.m. and detained at Nyayo House, the provincial headquarters for Nairobi.

"Just as we were about to start the 10 a.m. press conference at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenyan immigration approached us and detained us," Corsi told WND by telephone this morning. "Tim Bueler, my publicist, and I are now in the immigration offices, with our passports taken. The immigration officer told the press, 'There is no problem, and Dr. Corsi is a friend of Kenya.'"

"There are unconfirmed reports from on the ground in Nairobi that Jerome Corsi and his traveling partner and publicist, Tim Bueler, have left Kenya," said Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND who was in touch with Corsi by telephone and email until 9:30 a.m. Eastern today. "However, we have not been able to reach either Corsi or Bueler for several hours, and we are concerned. Officials in Kenya have not been responsive to our requests for information. We also hear unconfirmed reports from the government claiming it has 'deported' Corsi. Since Corsi was scheduled to leave the country today, this would seem to be a strange action from a government that was well aware of Corsi's presence, his travels and his activities in the country for the last week."

Corsi had extensive meetings with top Kenyan officials upon his arrival. His visit and his activities during his stay have been well-known to authorities at the highest levels.

A senior immigration official in charge of investigations, Carlos Maluta was quoted by the Associated Press as saying: "We still haven't decided what to do with him."

Despite reports elsewhere to the contrary, Corsi has not been arrested or charged with any offense.

An official with the Embassy of Kenya in Washington said he was unaware of Corsi's detention. The Ministry of Immigration in Nairobi could not be reached for comment. WND tried again, later, to contact a spokesman for the embassy and was told by a receptionist the official word is that Corsi was not detained. "He's enjoying his holiday in Kenya," she said.

Obama has a long history of connections in Kenya, where his father worked as a government economist. Corsi documented this history in his book and went to Kenya to find answers to lingering questions – particularly about the links between the presidential candidate and Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Corsi had promised a news conference today that would "expose details of deep secret ties between U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and a section of Kenya government leaders, their connection to certain sectoral groups in Kenya and subsequent plot to be executed in Kenya should Senator Obama win the American presidency."

Meanwhile, the management of the hotel where Corsi was scheduled to hold the press conference has repudiated its plans to provide the facility.

In a press release, the hotel said: "We would like to assure our business partners and the public at large that Laico Regency Hotel is a law-abiding institution and does not condone any smear campaigns. The management cannot allow such activities to take place."

Corsi told WND he has been assured he will be released soon. He had planned to leave the country tomorrow, arriving in London first and the U.S. Friday.

A hotel worker in Nairobi told Reuters Corsi was picked up as soon as he walked into the hotel for the scheduled press conference: "He was walking in and then some immigration officers who were following him snatched him. It happened so fast, they just vanished with him."

"Obama is revered in Kenya for his paternal roots here and as a flagbearer for Africa on the international stage," explained the Reuters dispatch.

Kenyan TV station KTN said Corsi may be sent home due to lack of a work permit. However, Corsi met with top officials in Nairobi earlier this week explaining in detail the purpose of his visit and sharing copies of his news releases and books.

Corsi told WND Editor Joseph Farah by telephone that Kenyan authorities claimed they were holding him because the immigration forms his party filled out for customs had been lost.

Corsi was set to show Obama and Odinga have been in direct contact since the senator's visit to Kenya in 2006. He was to claim Obama advised Odinga on campaign strategy and helped him raise money in the U.S. for the Kenya presidential campaign.

Corsi was to report Odinga's 2007 presidential campaign strategy called for exploiting anti-Kikuyu tribal sentiments, claiming victory and charging voter fraud even if the campaign knew the election had been legitimately lost. Odinga, Corsi said, also was willing to fan the flames of ethnic tribal tensions and use violence as a last resort by calling for mass action that led to the destruction of properties, injuries, loss of life and the displacement of over 500,000 Kenyans. The purpose was to compel the Electoral Commission of Kenya to declare him the winner or enable him to declare himself the winner by force.

Even though Odinga has not fulfilled his campaign promises to the Muslims who voted for him, he continues to cause concern among Kenyans because he has not declared his position on Shariah law, Corsi said.

Corsi said Obama remained in active phone contact with Odinga through the New Hampshire Democratic Party primary in January. The Illinois senator continued to support Odinga, he said, turning a blind eye to an agreement signed with Muslims and the post-election violence instigated as part of the campaign strategy.

WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi today was refused permission to hold a scheduled news conference about his investigation into Barack Obama's Kenyan links by Kenyan immigration officials and soldiers armed with automatic weapons who then took him to his departure flight and made it clear he was not welcome to return.

"Don't ever come back. See you in hell," Corsi reported an unidentified official told him as the author of the No. 1 best-selling book "The Obama Nation" was delivered to a flight departing from Nairobi for London.

Corsi was able to communicate surreptitiously with WND late in the day in Kenya after being held incommunicado by immigration officials who at one point said there was a paperwork mixup.

He was just getting ready for a 10 a.m. (3 a.m. EDT) news conference to announce the results of his investigation into Obama's connections inside Kenya when immigration officials "detained" him along with Tim Bueler, his publicist.

Corsi made a quick contact with WND founder and editor Joseph Farah, but then Kenyan authorities, armed with automatic weapons, confiscated his passport and cell phone and held him in detention as if he were suspected of a crime.

Corsi documented the ordeal and dispatched a report to WND from his telephone later in the brief period between the time authorities returned his belongings in preparation for his departure and when the British Airways jet took off.

"We were detained and lied to all day," Corsi wrote. "The immigration officer at the hotel 15 minutes before the press conference this morning said we only needed to come to the immigration headquarters downtown for a few minutes and that we would be back to the hotel for the press conference with only a few minutes delay."

That, however, was not to be the case, as Corsi and Bueler would find out soon after they left their hotel.

"We got brought to immigration headquarters by what turned out to be about a dozen immigration officers plus military armed with automatic rifles," he reported. "Tim got placed in the back of the vehicle and was surrounded by the armed military. I was in the front between the driver and the top immigration officer who first identified himself at the hotel."

Kenyan authorities took their cell phones and passports, even while explaining the Americans were "not under arrest."

Hours later, two lawyers appeared before the author and his publicist, although they had not been requested.

"About 1:30, the chief immigration officer demanded we accompany him immediately to the airport – we were told immigration needed to verify our air tickets, which always were for this flight tonight," Corsi wrote. "The tickets were always e-tickets and could easily be validated by computer from anywhere."

But Kenyan immigration officials then explained the men's entry cards had been "lost" and that Corsi and Bueler had to be at the airport to help investigate what happened.

In addition to being held incommunicado, the two also were held without food.

"We were offered no food until Tim began feeling a problem with his blood sugar, then around 2:30 p.m. the head immigration people allowed one of the immigration officials to accompany us so we could have 'no more than 15 minutes' to buy something to eat,'" Corsi wrote.

Eventually, they were taken from the holding facility to the airport.

"We were led out of headquarters by [the] back stairs and elevators, to avoid the press that had followed us to headquarters and was still waiting for interviews," Corsi reported.

"We went to the airport via armed caravan," Corsi added, and on arrival the two Americans were told to go into a "holding cell" already containing other possible deportees.

"We refused, demanding to know if we were being charged with any offenses, where our lawyers had gone, and why we had to be locked up, when all day we had been lied to and told we would be released 'soon,'" Corsi reported.

The instructions to go into the holding cell were repeated several times, always without success, he said.

Late in the afternoon the two were told they would be allowed to board the British Airways flights to London and "that we had committed no offenses and were not being deported," said Corsi.

But authorities still kept the cell phones and passports.

"About 6 p.m. our lawyer arrived with our luggage, which we had not been allowed to go get or pack," Corsi wrote. "We had no place or opportunity to consult with the lawyer, who was asked to leave once we got our bags."

A brief meeting with Richard Nicholson, the vice consul in the U.S. embassy followed.

"He, too, confirmed we had done nothing wrong and were not being deported," Corsi wrote.

It was shortly after that, when authorities returned Corsi's cell phone, that he was able to provide this report as the British Airways flight prepared for departure for London.

Peter Mbae, a Kenyan publicist who arranged the news conference, told WND he contacted the Ministry of Immigration and was told the Americans were being held but would be let go eventually.

It was just one of the stories released during the day. One official with the Embassy of Kenya in Washington said he was unaware of Corsi's detention. When WND reached the embassy later, a receptionist confirmed the official word was that Corsi was not detained.

"He's enjoying his holiday in Kenya," she said.

Bribes paid for Corsi

Bribes totaling thousands of dollars were paid to facilitate WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi's departure from Kenya after immigration authorities there detained him and his publicist – holding them under armed guard and without food – to prevent Corsi from holding a news conference revealing what he had discovered about Barack Obama's controversial ties in the African nation.

Confirmation of the payments comes just as a report from Kenya Broadcasting Corp. admitted it was politics, not the contrived paperwork reason, for which Corsi was detained.

According to copies of e-mails obtained by WND, a resident of Kenya who provided funding for the payments said the bribes were paid to "various officials" during the day-long standoff between Corsi and Kenyan immigration authorities.

The e-mail addressed to Corsi said, "Sorry that your last day in the country was a little stressful. I trust you are both [Corsi and publicist Tim Bueler] safe and have all of your possessions with you."

"We had worked diligently to get you both out safe and with all your stuff," the informant said. "There was a great cost, however."

The informant then cited fees used for "paying off" some of the officials involved in the case.

The informant listed the immediate expenditure of $2,500 in U.S. dollars and another $1,428 worth of Kenya shillings.

"I have given them all the money I had access to," said the informant, who said the total, $3,928, took care "of a portion of what will be required." He suggested there still could be future costs for "damage control."

The e-mail also included a plea not to identify any individual either paying or taking the bribes, because of the potential for retaliation.

As WND has reported, Kenyan immigration officials and soldiers armed with automatic weapons prevented Corsi from holding a scheduled news conference about his investigation into Obama's Kenyan links. The Kenyan authorities detaining him later took him to his departure flight and made it clear he was not welcome to return.

Corsi was approached by immigration officials and taken to their office under the guard of armed soldiers. Corsi made a quick contact with WND founder and editor Joseph Farah, but then Kenyan authorities confiscated his passport and cell phone and held him as if he were suspected of a crime.

Under guard and without food for most of the day, it wasn't until many hours later when Corsi was taken to the airport for his scheduled flight and his cell phone was returned. He then was able to dispatch to WND a report on his captivity.

But according to the KBC report, the government of Kenya was alleging it "deported" Corsi "back to America" because of "the nature of his mission."

"According to Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula, Corsi displayed inconsistent conduct with the expected norms of good behavior," the KBC report said.

The report said the "initial explanation" cited paperwork, "but it emerged on Wednesday that his deportation squarely lay on his suspect intentions and mission in the country, the launch of an anti-Obama book."

The report said Kenyans were demonstrating against the book, "leading to his detention by security."

"We went to the airport via armed caravan," Corsi said. Ultimately Corsi was told he and Bueler would be allowed on the London flight.
