Obama worker, Bush pastor linked to Dobson-bashing
Family association says preacher changed story about involvement
A campaign worker for Barack Obama and the Texas Methodist pastor who advises President Bush have been linked to a website that bashes prominent Christian leader and Focus on the Family founder James Dobson.
The site, called "jamesdobsondoesntspeakforme," appeared just days ago after Dobson criticized Obama's interpretation of the Bible during a 2006 speech and Obama responded essentially by calling Dobson a liar, accusing him of "making things up."
Now a report from OneNewsNow, a division of the American Family Association, said the website originally was registered to Obama campaign worker Alyssa Martin, but the registration later was changed to Kirbyjon Caldwell, who leads a Methodist megachurch in Texas and has advised Bush.
Donald Wildmon, chairman of the AFA, suggested Caldwell could do some explaining about his participation in the campaign to bash Dobson, the author of "Bringing Up Boys" and dozens of other family books.
"We are dismayed that the pastor of a large Methodist church in Houston, Texas, has had trouble remembering the facts of his relationship with the Barack Obama campaign," Wildmon said today. "On Wednesday of this week, the Associated Press quoted Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, who has endorsed Obama, as saying he belongs to a group of religious leaders who, working independently of Obama's campaign, launched a website to counter critical remarks about Obama made by Focus on the Family leader James Dobson.
"Pastor Caldwell repeated the assertion that he did not work with the Obama campaign to develop the site during an interview with OneNewsNow.com. However, in a subsequent interview with OneNewsNow.com, Caldwell stated that he had worked with Obama campaign worker, Alyssa Martin, to help set up the site," Wildmon continued.
"Why has Pastor Caldwell changed his story about the website, and why has he been reluctant to reveal his close working relationship with the Obama campaign in setting up the website which has been used to attack the credibility of James Dobson?" Wildmon asked.
Caldwell's personal page on his church website notes that he believes the church must "embrace theology, identify societal problems, and deliver solutions holistically."
The dispute arose following Dobson's evaluation of Obama's 2006 speech.
Dobson, whose daily radio broadcasts reach millions, said the likely Democratic presidential nominee distorted the Bible and pushed a "fruitcake interpretation" of the U.S. Constitution.
Obama's comments had come in a June 2006 speech to the Call to Renewal group, which was described by the Associated Press as "liberal."
"Even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools?" Obama said. "Would we go with James Dobson's or Al Sharpton's?"
Obama cited Leviticus as suggesting slavery is all right and eating shellfish is an abomination. He said in the speech, "Folks haven't been reading their Bibles."
Dobson said Obama improperly equated Old Testament dietary codes and texts to Jesus' New Testament teachings.
"I think he's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology," Dobson told the AP. "He is dragging biblical understanding through the gutter."
Obama's response? "I think you'll see that he was just making stuff up, maybe for his own purposes."
Now the site assembled by the onetime Obama campaign worker and Caldwell accuses Dobson of not speaking for its supporters.
"He doesn't speak for me when he uses religion as a wedge to divide; He doesn't speak for me when he speaks as the final arbiter on the meaning of the Bible; James Dobson doesn't speak for me when he uses the beliefs of others as a line of attack; He doesn't speak for me when he denigrates his neighbor's views when they don't line up with his; He doesn't speak for me when he seeks to confine the values of my faith to two or three issues alone," the website says.
Instead, "What does speak for me is David's psalm celebrating how good and pleasant it is when we come together in unity; Micah speaks for me in reminding us that the Lord requires us to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with Him; The prophet Isaiah speaks for me in his call for all to come and reason together and also to seek justice, encourage the oppressed and to defend the cause of the vulnerable."
It offers readers a choice to sign onto its political agenda.
It also lists comments from Obama in response to Dobson's criticisms. It even addresses what many Christians see as one of the more visible apparent conflicts between Obama's statements abouthis adopting Christianity and his actions: his dedicated support for abortions even through late-term procedures.
Obama says: "I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all."
Dobson's responded to that statement with: "And if I can't get everyone to agree with me, it is undemocratic to try to pass legislation that I find offensive to the Scripture. That is a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution. … Am I required in a democracy to conform my efforts in the political arena to his bloody notion of what is right with regard to the lives of tiny babies?"
The Washington Post noted Caldwell "has for months participated on a weekly Friday morning prayer call with members of Obama's staff and other Christian ministers who dial in from across the county (sic)."
On the OneNewsNow forums page, the anonymously submitted opinions were running heavily against Caldwell:
* Obama is either ignorant or misguided because he declared his mother was in heaven even though she was not a Christ follower and even a good Muslim would go to Heaven. All such is an affront to Jesus own words. Settle it Obama. Jesus was either a liar, crazy or who He said he was, the only begotten of the Father!
* I have to question the Christianity of a man who has the same philosophy about the sanctity of human life as the Nazis did. Just as the Nazis justified the Holocaust and the murder of millions of people because they considered them not to be human beings and therefore killing them was not murder, Obama doesn't consider an innocent child in its mother's womb to be a human being and therefore killing them is not murder. Abortion does not equal murder in Obama's eyes and yet he calls himself a "Christian." There were Nazis who called themselves "Christians."
* While Dobson doesn't speak for me, I do agree with him on this item. Obama has said so many things that are totally against God's word that it is scary....i.e "there are other ways to heaven than just through Jesus," "my mother was an atheist, but she was the nicest kindest woman, and I believe she is in Heaven" Excuse me! What Christian could say something like this?
God help this country if he is elected because we will need it."

Brothers and Sisters,
Obama is pretty, gives great speeches, and evidently has some sort of captivating quality for a portion of the population, but he's in unknown territory with Christianity. He doesn't know the first thing about JESUS CHRIST and Salvation, but he's chosen to fake it and attempt to show Christians
HE'S A MAN OF FAITH FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES!
As a contrast, James Dobson is obviously a Christian and doesn't have to fake anything. James Dobson is sincere, loves CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOUR, and I'm not aware of anything James Dobson has ever said that would hurt the REAL WORK of the LORD. I'm not hinting that James Dobson or any other Christian is close to being perfect, but James Dobson's work and life testimony is unquestionably that of a Real, Born-Again Christian who is serving the LORD. I can't remember a time of being shocked or ashamed of something James Dobson said in his ministry for the LORD.
Again, I'm not hinting that James Dobson or any other Christian is perfect, but he is a Strong Christian who is obviously trying to serve the LORD.
As a STARK CONTRAST, Obama's background is with cults and false religions, and there is no reason I'm aware of to believe that he's even saved. I wouldn't expect Obama to understand sound doctrine of any kind from the HOLY BIBLE. Obama is on the opposite end of the spectrum from James Dobson, and Obama is almost certainly LOST. If Obama wanted to act like a Christian, he would either have to take acting classes in Hollywood or take the first step of accepting JESUS CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOUR. Bluntly, Obama doesn't have a CLUE, and his Christian acting job is so pitiful that it simply indicates how many lies he's willing to tell to get elected.
I will pray for Obama whether he gets elected or not. "GOD HELP US!" would be the most accurate plea to GOD if Obama does get elected. Everything Obama stands for is Anti-Christ and Anti-Christian, so he's a good example of how far this country has turned away from GOD. The negative about Obama has nothing to do with his race, regardless of what Obama wants the public to believe.
The negative about Obama pertains solely to his

Obama site urges: 'Revolution' against U.S. 'oppressive' regime
Marxists, socialists, communists form group to plot on official campaign blog
Marxists, socialists and communists have created a safe space online to congregate, exchange ideas – including a stated revolution against the U.S. "oppressive" regime – and support their favored presidential candidate.
Their meeting spot? Sen. Barack Obama's official campaign website, which allows registered users to form groups and post content in online "community" blogs.
One popular community group on the Illinois senator's official MyObama website calls itself "Marxists/Socialists/Communists for Obama."
"This group is for self-proclaimed Marxists/Communists/Socialists for the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency. By no means is he a true Marxist, but under Karl Marx's writings we are to support the party with the best interests of the mobilization of the proletariat," states the groups charter.
"We support Barack Obama because he knows what is best for the people!" exclaims the group's online creed.
And on Obama's site, the declared Marxist, communist and socialist bloggers rant against such varied targets as Republicans, capitalism and the Fox News Channel. According to author profiles, the bloggers range from registered voters to underage high school students who state they are looking to foment revolt.
In a posting titled "The Nature of the Proletariat," one group member calls for revolution against the U.S. "oppressive" regime.
According to Marxist doctrine, the proletariat is the only class that can overpower and vanquish the oppressive bourgeoisie. ... In America, the 'peasantry' is not scattered from each other but rather seem (sic) to be isolated in certain high-population areas. This then leaves the Petty-Bourgeoisie. Are they a possible force of a Revolution? I believe so. Not because I think that they could on there own, but because of the fact that they seemed to have assimilated with the Proletariat.
The middle class is now made up of the laborers who must face the grueling task of providing the bourgeoisie with power and capital. This assimilation only proves that the Revolution is inevitable.
"Eventually, the bourgeoisie controlled government will fail to keep the ever growing masses at bay, and the Revolution will occur," adds the posting.
The user argues Obama will help advance the "revolution," which he says can be a physical revolt or massive governmental reform:
"The Neo-proleatarian is now the bearer of the Revolution. That's why I support Obama. He helps destroy the paradigm of bourgeoisie government, which is best for the Proletariat. In the end, this will only hasten the Revolution even if the Revolution must come as a massive government reform."
Another posting by a registered group member calling himself "The Chalk Graffiti Terrorist" argues on Obama's site against the "evils" of capitalism.
"We can’t just accept the evil side of capitalism. The nature of capitalism is to maximize profits, and this is often done by minimizing expenditure—in short, cutting costs. And cutting costs means less benefits, less pay, and poorer conditions for the workers. But capitalism has more evil in it than that. The profit motive drives the destruction of our environment, it has caused the current foreclosure crisis, and it exploits and basically enslaves those poor not protected by legitimate representative government."
One group member urges Obama site readers to support the FairTax bill, which calls for the abolishment of the IRS and for the income tax to be replaced with a national consumption tax. The bill has some support across the U.S. political spectrum, including with some Republicans.
"This bill was created to try and rectify the problems that have emerged from the Federal Income Tax and the IRS's existence. It would repeal the 16th Amedment and put in its place a national sales tax for the United States Government to collect revenue."
It was not immediately clear whether Obama's website staff approves new groups registered on his site. His campaign did not return WND e-mail and phone requests for comment. While the website carries a disclaimer that it does not monitor all blog posts, the site doesn't state whether staff approve new groups.
According to the MyObama site, there were 18,911 registered community groups as of yesterday, including such groups as "Atheists for Obama," "Jedi Knights for Obama," "Muslims for Obama" and "'The Secret' Believers for Obama."
Obama spokesmen previously have stated the campaign cannot monitor all content posted on blogs, but it promptly removes content brought to its attention that is deemed inappropriate or hateful.
Yesterday WND reported a blog posting on Obama's official campaign site urged Americans to take action to secure the release of imprisoned terrorist fundraiser Sami Al-Arian, comparing the controversial former professor to Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.
The posting, which has been removed since publication of the story, is just a sampling of a large volume of racist, anti-Semitic and pro-Palestinian rhetoric published on the user-friendly MyObama community blog pages.
One recently removed posting claims Jews control the media. Another referred to Jews as "puppet masters" and "war criminals." Yet another posting, titled "The Israeli connection to 9/11," claimed Israeli intelligence was involved in the mega-attack and planted "false flags" to blame Arab countries.
Other MyObama posts have warned of "Judeofacists and their Neocon comrades" who "already destroyed America" and declare the "entire Congress should be overthrown by revolution for having sold America to the Israelis."
A popular topic on Obama's site apparently is the so-called Israel Lobby.
An Obama site search under the key words "Israel lobby" brings up a large number of pages with titles such as "Bush uses Nazi history against Obama to pander to the Jewish lobby" and "The Israel Lobby: bad for the world."
In one recently removed posting, titled, "How the Jewish Lobby works," the page read, "No lobby is feared more" and claimed Jews "run the Federal Reserve Bank, US Homeland Security, and the US State Department."

We shouldn't even need a Paul Revere if people would just pay a tiny bit of attention and use some common sense.
I've listened to a couple of news spots today that indicate those sounding the alarm must be nuts and fruitcakes. However, the reality of the CALL TO ATTENTION is everywhere - literally under our very noses. Everything that decent people stand for and believe in is at stake. In fact, our way of life is at stake. One would have to be blind not to see it. For those who are blind, it also smells BAD.

I agree. All to often it is like talking to the proverbial brick wall when a person tries to tell of things that are happening. I think it is because of the numerous conspiracy nuts that keep throwing out very provable false information. Then when a person comes along with the truth it is just considered another "one of them".
There are also many people that are still in that "it can never happen here" mode. They haven't learned from WWII, Pearl Harbor or 9/11. Others are all too busy in their own private little world that they can't see beyond those imaginary walls they have built up around them.

I know what you mean. I can't believe the lack of understanding in some people I've spoken with. Of course a lot of them are coming out of "left" field, if you know what I mean. Still, their blindness amazes me. And then there are those that just don't want to know. "Ignorance is bliss" group. There are some that I just feel like, "you'll see" but then there are the ones close to me that I just want to shake and tell them to "snap out of it"!

Franklin Graham peppered Obama about ties to Islam
Candidate confronted on Christian faith, asked whether he accepts Jesus as savior
At a meeting with Christian leaders last month, Sen. Barack Obama reportedly was peppered with questions by Franklin Graham – son of evangelist Billy Graham – about the presidential candidate's ties to Islam, his Christian baptism and whether he accepts Jesus as his savior, it has emerged.
The new accounts, published by the Religion News Service and by the left-leaning magazine The Nation, contrast with major media reports describing Obama's closed-door meeting June 10 with Christian A-listers as friendly.
"I can confirm Rev. Graham did indeed ask Obama about his personal faith. Because it was a private meeting, it is up to Obama if he wants to release any more information," Graham's spokesman, Jeremy Blume, told WND.
Obama's meeting with about 30 Christian leaders took place at a downtown Chicago law office. According to The Nation's Max Blumenthal, quoting sources inside the meeting, Graham, who serves as chief of the Christian aid organization Samaritan's Purse, sat next to Obama.
One meeting attendee, Rev. Eugene Rivers, pastor of Boston's Azusa Christian Community, told the Religion News Service that Graham asked about Obama's Christian beliefs and the senator's family connections to Islam.
Obama's father, described in some reports as an atheist, polygamist and alcoholic, was buried in Kenya as a Muslim. Barack Obama Sr. had three sons with another woman who reportedly all are Muslim. The Illinois senator's brother, Roy, is described as a practicing Muslim.
Rivers said Obama told Graham of this father: "the least of the things he was was Islamic."
According to River's account, Graham went on to ask Obama whether he believed Jesus is the only way to salvation.
Rivers, a declared Obama supporter, recalled: "Obama said, brilliantly, 'Jesus is the only way for me. I'm not in a position to judge other people.'"
Rivers said he was disappointed by some of Graham's questioning, explaining he thought the meeting would focus on domestic policy.
"They focused on abortion, gay marriage, and then Franklin Graham tried to get Senator Obama saved," said Rivers.
Another Obama meeting participant, Stephen Strang, publisher of the evangelical magazine Charisma, told The Nation several participants, not just Graham, expressed concern about the Muslim background of some of Obama's family members.
Strang, a member of Pastor John Hagee's Christians United For Israel organization, said Obama replied he had hardly known his father, who left his family when Obama was 2 years old.
Strang quoted Obama stating he never attended mosque while a child in Indonesia, a contention contradicted by quotes to reporters from Obama's childhood friends.
"I remember [Obama] saying, 'We never went to the mosque when we lived in Indonesia,'" Strang said.
The new accounts of the Christian leaders' meeting with Obama follow media reports characterizing it as friendly. One report had Obama and Graham hugging after the meeting, although a Graham spokesman later told the Christian Broadcasting Network it was a handshake, not a hug.
Obama 'quote religious in Islam'
Obama has long denied he was ever a Muslim. His campaign site states: "Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised as a Muslim, and is a committed Christian."
But as WND reported, public records in Indonesia listed Obama as a Muslim during his early years, and a number of childhood friends claimed to the media Obama was once a mosque-attending Muslim.
Obama's campaign several times has wavered in response to reporters queries regarding the senator's childhood faith.
Commenting on a recent Los Angeles Times report quoting a childhood friend stating Obama prayed in a mosque – something the presidential candidate said he never did – Obama's campaign released a statement explaining the senator "has never been a practicing Muslim."
Widely distributed reports have noted that in January 1968, Obama was registered as a Muslim at Jakarta's Roman Catholic Franciscus Assisi Primary School under the name Barry Soetoro. He was listed as an Indonesian citizen whose stepfather, listed on school documents as "L Soetoro Ma," worked for the topography department of the Indonesian Army.
Catholic schools in Indonesia routinely accept non-Catholic students but exempt them from studying religion. Obama's school documents, though, wrongly list him as being Indonesian.
After attending the Assisi Primary School, Obama was enrolled – also as a Muslim, according to documents – in the Besuki Primary School, a public school in Jakarta.
The Loatze blog, run by an American expatriate in Southeast Asia who visited the Besuki school, noted "All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school, and a young 'Barry Soetoro,' being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school. He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam."
Indeed, in Obama's autobiography, "Dreams From My Father," he acknowledged studying the Quran and describes the public school as "a Muslim school."

"In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Quranic studies," wrote Obama.
The Indonesian media have been flooded with accounts of Obama's childhood Islamic studies, some describing him as a religious Muslim .
Speaking to the country's Kaltim Post, Tine Hahiyary, who was principal of Obama's school while he was enrolled there, said she recalls he studied the Quran in Arabic.
"At that time, I was not Barry's teacher, but he is still in my memory" claimed Tine, who is 80 years old.
The Kaltim Post said Obama's teacher, named Hendri, died.
"I remember that he studied 'mengaji (recitation of the Quran)," Tine said, according to an English translation by Loatze.
Mengaji, or the act of reading the Quran with its correct Arabic punctuation, is usually taught to more religious pupils and is not known as a secular study.
Also, Loatze documented the Indonesian daily Banjarmasin Post interviewed Rony Amir, an Obama classmate and Muslim, who described Obama as "previously quite religious in Islam."
"We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house. If he was wearing a sarong (waist fabric worn for religious or casual occasions) he looked funny," Amir said.
The Los Angeles Times, which sent a reporter to Jakarta, quoted Zulfin Adi, who identified himself as among Obama's closest childhood friends, stating the presidential candidate prayed in a mosque, something Obama's campaign claimed he never did.
"We prayed, but not really seriously, just following actions done by older people in the mosque. But as kids, we loved to meet our friends and went to the mosque together and played," said Adi.
Friday prayers
Aside from a new website to fight purported smears, Obama's official campaign site has a page titled "Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian." The page states, "Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ."
But the campaign changed its tune when it issued a "practicing Muslim" clarification to the Los Angeles Times.
An article in March by the Chicago Tribune apparently disputes Adi's statements to the L.A. paper. The Tribune caught up with Obama's declared childhood friend, who now describes himself as only knowing Obama for a few months in 1970 when his family moved to the neighborhood. Adi said he was unsure about his recollections of Obama
But the Tribune found Obama did attend mosque.
"Interviews with dozens of former classmates, teachers, neighbors and friends show that Obama was not a regular practicing Muslim when he was in Indonesia," states the Tribune article.
It quotes the presidential candidate's former neighbors and third-grade teacher recalling Obama "occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers."
Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, notes the Tribune article – cited by liberal blogs as refuting claims Obama is Muslim – actually implies Obama was an irregularly practicing Muslim and twice confirms Obama attended mosque services.
In a free-ranging interview with the New York Times, Obama described the Muslim call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset."
The Times' Nicholos Kristof wrote Obama recited, "with a first-class [Arabic] accent," the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer.
The first few lines of the call to prayer state:
Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet...
Some attention also has been paid to Obama's paternal side of the family, including his father and his brother, Roy.
Writing in a chapter of his book describing his 1992 wedding, the presidential candidate stated: "The person who made me proudest of all was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol."
Still, Obama says he was raised by his Christian mother and repeatedly has labeled as "smears" several reports attempting to paint him as a Muslim.
"Let's make clear what the facts are: I am a Christian. I have been sworn in with a Bible. I pledge allegiance [to the American flag] and lead the Pledge of Allegiance sometimes in the United States Senate when I'm presiding," he told the Times of London earlier this year.

Praise God for men like Franklin Graham that are not afraid to witness to others.

UM?
It appears that Obama isn't even Obama, and he's been caught in at least a portion of his lies. Obama is SLICK, but I don't think he's slick enough to slide out of anything. I think we've seen just the tip of the iceberg on the lies, deceit, and con games of Obama. There are plenty of folks who will be most happy to expose Obama for who and what he is.
If Obama has any common sense at all, he'll take an early plea bargain and cut some years off of his prison sentence!
One can almost be guaranteed this is a conspiracy, and it involves many millions of dollars and numerous criminal offenses. I'd love to see this prosecuted under Ricco. This would mean prosecuting everyone and confiscating any gains obtained in criminal offenses. I think this day should come, AND MAYBE IT WILL!
