Hello Wayne,
WELCOME!
I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite. I look forward to reading your posts and having fellowship with you.
Brother, I feel fortunate to have served almost 25 years on a Police Department that was heavily Christian oriented. We were allowed to do many things as long as we offered everyone a chance to leave or not participate. I can't ever remember anyone wanting to leave or not participate. Prayer was a part of every shift, both at the beginning of the shift and before dangerous assignments. We also did some things together before and after duty. Further, we were allowed to use Christian tactics in things like domestic situations as long as the parties present were asked and they allowed it.
I've heard many people say that Christians should not be police officers, but I disagree 100%. GOD can and does use Christian Police Officers, and I think that the jurisdiction benefits greatly from having Christian Police Officers serving. I feel the same way about Christians serving in the Armed Forces. Some say that the moral issues can't be resolved and keep putting GOD first. I can't speak for all departments, but I can say that these issues were resolved in my 25 years of service. I did say NO! several times and simply explained my position. My position was respected and only resulted in disciplinary action against me once. That disciplinary action was reversed as unmerited and unfair. In the meantime, I kept getting promoted and retired as the Senior Watch Commander on the Department. I say these things for a reason:
Christians can serve as Police Officers and Soldiers. GOD can an does use Christians in these positions.Love In Christ,
Tom
