That's a good one, Forrest.  Thank you.

Someone correct me on this, but I remember hearing or reading somewhere that Dr. Spock reneged on or renounced much of what he had taught, at the end of his life(age 90?), but that it was, um, *a little late*, since by that time he'd already taught three generations of mothers...   Roll Eyes

My parents likewise applied the board of education to the seat of learning.

Thanks Brother Forrest!

I almost cry every time I think about all the lost, hurting, crying, dying, and dead children over a 25 year police career.

I certainly don't believe in child abuse, injuring, or maiming children with punishment. On the other side of the coin is reasonable and loving punishment to bring a child up in the ways of the Lord. These ways are trusted, tried, and true. There is no irony that reasonable and loving punishment prevents things that are thousands of times worse than a 5 second stinging rear end. I don't consider it to be just a matter of love, rather also of duty to the child and to God.

Everyone pays a horrible price when we don't bring our children up in the ways of the Lord.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Cool Post !

This is  only slighty  around topic!

About 1983 a  kid went into a school in Las Vagas and shot a teacher, that is about all i rememeber of what happened because the same day all that   hit the news.... My son was at  highschool , he heard the night watchman's wife screaming "My house is on fire and i cant find my baby" he ran to the house turned the power off grabbed the water hose went in puttting out fire heading to the hottest area found the  toddler in the closest wet him down called to the mother to come and get him... Jr stayed there putting out the fire tell the fireman tapped him on the sholder and said time to go... the school sent him to the hospital just to be safe. Not a word in the paper or TV, i woundered as i was hearing about the 'shooter' how many other kids have saved a life that day...

Oklahoma Howdy to Reba,

You make an excellent point about the deeds of our best young people not making the news. Good news evidently doesn't sell newspapers. Instead, the news media actually glorifies and makes celebrities out of bad young people. I would be happy to pay extra for a newspaper that buried the shooter on page 12 and gave the front page to the young man who saved the baby in the fire. We should be recognizing and encouraging the good.

I've always thought the weakest and most cowardly young people were gang members, dopers, and thieves. The toughest kids in school are the ones who stand alone, try to do good, make something of themselves, contribute to society, and make their parents proud. The whole community needs to pay attention to the good kids and encourage them along the way.

Reba, you put the soapbox out there for me to stand on.  Cheesy I'll get off now and let someone else use it. By the way, I think the soapbox should be occupied night and day.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Cry That's miserable, that the story of a hero could be neglected so. We can be so quick to focus on the bad, that we do not see the good.

P.S. Praise God for your son!
