Christmas prayer campaign for military announced

Christians across America are being asked to spend a portion of their weekend praying for U.S. forces serving around the world.

The prayer campaign, set for Saturday and Sunday, is spearheaded by leaders of ministries such as Promise Keepers, The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and Christian Hope Indian Eskimo Fellowship. Davon Gray, an organizer of the prayer event, says the initiative emphasizes three specific points.

"Particularly what we're asking folks to do is to pray for the soldiers and sailors serving now throughout the world. Also, we're asking them to pray for an awareness of Christ in their lives as they're serving," he continues. "And also we're asking people to pray for the families who are going through separation of having their loved ones away the holiday season, and also for the ones who have lost loved ones in this war."

Gray says the ministry, "Pray for America," will organize other prayer events that will cover a wide range of topics in the future.
