Pelosi, SF mayor urged to end 'illegal' Folsom Street debauchery
Conservative activists are ramping up their pressure on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) to publicly denounce what they view as immoral and "blatantly illegal" behavior that took place at a homosexual festival in her San Francisco district in late September.
Americans for Truth About Homosexuality held a news conference yesterday at the National Press Club to show reporters what they witnessed while video taping the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco on September 30. On the video, large numbers of men and women roamed the streets naked and engaged in group orgies and sadomasochistic activities at the September 30 festival, which received an official welcome from San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. The Folsom Street Fair is a 501(c)3 non-profit group.
Matt Barber of Concerned Women for America said the event not only constituted perversion, but also child abuse. "Of course, perhaps the most egregious aspect of this is when you see ... that there are children present witnessing these most vile acts of debauchery which are occurring in broad daylight with the approval of the San Francisco government [and] with the approval ostensibly of Nancy Pelosi," explains Barber. And the "debauchery" depicted in the video, he noted, occurred "as police stand by and do nothing, and as children watch. It's appalling."
Barber said it is incumbent upon Speaker Pelosi -- as a lawmaker -- not to tacitly endorse the illegal behavior that was allowed at what he describes as a "mini-Sodom and Gomorrah" event. And San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, he added, "needs to enforce the law in San Francisco [or] put an end to the Folsom Street Fair."
