Peter was sleeping between two soilders.

Acts 12-1-11

Acts 12
1Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

2And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

4And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

5Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Amen, another one correct.

This is an important portion of scripture with a lesson that is also for our coming future. The Christians of that time had become somewhat disillusioned. They thought that the 12 Apostles enjoyed a unique divine protection. This was shattered with the slaying of James. Now Peter was captured and possibly facing the same demise. The church wakes up and turns to God in constant prayer for Peter and Peter is then delivered from the hands of Herod.

Today we see the church becoming complacent again, expecting, with some even demanding God to do all the work, to deliver us from evil without even asking Him.

Peter showed no signs of anxiety.  He was able to sleep soundly on what seemed to be the last night before his execution. Peter thought that he was seeing a vision and not the real thing. He obeyed without really knowing what was happening. The soldiers, the chains, the guard posts, the iron gate - are all nothing when God is with us and prayer is behind us.  Many of us are worrying about the iron gate before we ever get to it.  Long before we face such persecution many of us are anxious about the iron gate!  But God will take care of it when we come to it.

We must not fall into this complacent attitude. We all need to turn to Him in constant prayer and continue in His work while we are still able.

Luk 21:34  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
Luk 21:35  For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Luk 21:36  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Joseph served under Potiphar

Genesis 37:36
And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.

I'm sorry that I didn't get a question posted yesterday. Here is one though for today.

What is the name of the Syrian commander that was also a leper?

Naaman, was the captain who was a leper

2 Kings 5:1- Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.

The covenant after the global flood was made not only between God and man but also between God and the animals and the earth. What did God give as a sign of this covenant and how long is this covenant for?

Answer:  Bow (Raindbow) and Everlasting

Genesis 9:8-17

8And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

 9And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

10And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

11And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

17And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Amen, another one right.

Gen 8:21  And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
Gen 8:22  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

According to Jeremiah's vision, where would the new covenant between God and man be written?
