Speaking of the state of the world I was reading Psalms on the bus today and came across this that I thought was so interesting because it is talking about the world TODAY....
Psalm 2:1-6
Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together against the Lord
and against his Anointed One.
"Let us break their chains," they say,
"and throw off their fetters."
The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
Then he rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath,
saying,
"I have installed my King
on Zion, my holy hill."
(NIV)
I have a copy of The Way, the bible I carried in high school when we were called "Jesus Freaks", and it says it like this:
What fools the nations are to rage against the Lord! How strange that men should try to outwit God! For a summit conference of the nations has been called to plot against the Lord and his Messiah, Christ the King. "Come, let us break his chains," they say, "and free ourselves from all this slavery to God."
But God in heaven merely laughs! He is amused by all their puny plans. And then in fierce fury he rebukes them and fills them with fear.
For the Lord declares, "This is the King of my choice, and I have enthroned him in Jerusalem, my holy city."
Isn't this EXACTLY what is happening now? And I just love the part about "God just laughs and is amused by their
puny plans!
Oh that God! I think he has the same sarcastic humor that I do!
