Greetings everyone,

Let me introduce myself.   My name is Tim.   I have only been a member here for a few weeks.   When I joined I was so excited by a few threads that I dove straight in without stopping here first....lol  Please forgive me.

I was raised in a good Christian home.   My father was a Preacher for Church Of God, my mom is a tremendous prayer warrior, and I also have a brother and sister who still serve the Lord.  Needless to say, I came to the knowledge of Christ at an early age, and gave my heart to the Lord in earnest.   When I was 7 years old, my Dad had a burden for missions work, and gave often to that cause.  After a few years of this, God layed on his heart that He no longer wanted money, he wanted my Dad's service, and was so led by God to go into the mission field.  We moved to Trinidad West Indies when I was age 9.   At this early age, I was very excited by the newness of it all.   Going to a Muslim school, I had much opportunity to share my faith with others.

After 4 years, we returned to the USA and during this time at school, I began to slip into sin.  I got heavily involved in drugs, booze, and sex.   I got so far from God in my teen years that I even started to question his existance.  Of course this left my folks heartbroken, and I knew this.  However, they never condemed me.  My mom being the prayer warrior that she is, prayed for me constantly.   One day, she called me into her room and told me that she had told God she was unable to carry this burden any longer, and that she was handing me over to God and his mercy.   I was not phased by this, although I knew she was quite serious.   I continued enjoying the freedoms and my service to self and lack of any restrictions.

Some years went by.  During this time I had grown to love music, and had started playing in a rock band.  At the age of 25, our band was having rehersal one evening, and during a break we began to talk about the possibilities of God, creation, death and so forth.   The guys, knowing that my dad was a minister, suggested that we go to my house and discuss some of these things with him.  Reluctantly, I gave in.   As my dad began to unravalled the mystery of God and the greatness of his love to my friends and I, something went off inside me.  The enormity of his Love and Grace was overwhelming.  My friends went home, and I retreated to my room.   I tried to ignore the weight I had in my heart, but was unable to, and unable to sleep.  I knew the holy spirit was dealing with me in a major way.  With no-one with me, only a Risen Lord, I began to cry and ask him to forgive my sins, and come back into my heart.  Like an enormous weight lifted from my heart, I was flooded with peace and joy.  Guilt flowed out of me like water down a drain.  The next morning I told my dad that I had re-commited my life to Christ.  My friends later that day shared the same testimony with me and my folks.  There was much joy in my parents house that day!

Over 12 years have passed since that night.   During this time I have struggled in my faith, but the Lord has been right there with me to brush off my knees when I fall, and put me back on track.  I praise and thank Him for his never ending mercy and grace.  And I thank my parents for their patience with me and God, and being true to Him.

Parents!!!, if you have children that have strayed from God, or do not know him, I am living proof that the Lord is able to change their hearts and guide them to his perfect Love and grace.   Yes, I heard the word of truth from my dad, but God alone met me in that room.   He is able, he is faithful, and he is true!   Praise be to God! he still answers prayer today.

Grace and Peace!
