The Issue
Radio Disney is requiring that the words “chosen by God” be removed from advertising it airs to promote the new Promenade Pictures movie, “The Ten Commandments.” The ads originally stated that Moses was “chosen by God.” This action comes from a company that, on its website, promotes other movies with references to mythical gods, Tiki gods, Navaho gods and animal gods!

Liberty Counsel is launching this petition to rally 25,000 signers in 72 hours to send a strong message of citizen rebuke to Radio Disney for its censorship of God from this movie. “It is shocking that Radio Disney censored God from the ad promoting this movie,” said Liberty Counsel Founder Mat Staver. “Walt Disney would have been sadly disappointed to hear that Radio Disney censored God from one of the greatest stories ever told.”

Please sign the petition now and help us reach 25,000 signers before the movie’s nationwide theatrical release date of THIS FRIDAY -- October 19. If this goal is met, petitions will be delivered to the Radio Disney Network and the campaign will be released to the national media.

The Petition States: To: Radio Disney Network Officials

I am deeply troubled by the report that Radio Disney has refused to air an advertisement for the new animated movie entitled “The Ten Commandments” (produced by Promenade Pictures) because the ad states that Moses was “chosen by God.” This is blatant anti-faith bigotry and censorship by Radio Disney, especially when Radio Disney’s own website promotes movies with references to mythical gods, Tiki gods, Navajo gods and animal gods!

I am signing this citizen petition and calling on Disney to reverse its policy and issue a formal apology to Promenade Pictures and people of faith across this nation. Disney needs to get out of the business of censoring religious expression and focus instead on providing content that uplifts our families and our heritage of faith, as does this movie about Moses and the Ten Commandments.

Petition drive delivered to Radio Disney executives

More than 40,000 petitions have been delivered to executives at the Walt Disney Company over a recent decision to omit references to God from radio ads for the newly released animated movie "Ten Commandments".

The petition drive was organized by Liberty Counsel, after it was discovered that Radio Disney refused to allow the phrase "chosen by God" to remain in ads for the Promenade Pictures release. Liberty Counsel Founder Mat Staver says Disney should not be in the business of censoring religious expression.

"It's amazing that Radio Disney is censoring this movie. What we have now seen is that the faith and family friendly videos and movies are actually producing more revenue, long term, than the general junk that is produced by Hollywood," he points out.

Liberty Counsel teamed up with Promenade Pictures to promote the "Ten Commandments" movie before the controversy unfolded. They produced a three-minute video explaining the importance of God's holy laws -- which was played before movie previews at churches nationwide. Staver says that anyone who believes in good morals and is looking for strong role models for their children should see the movie.

Staver says he does not understand why Radio Disney would omit references to God in ads that promote a movie about God's law. The petition calls for Disney to reverse its policy and issue a formal apology to Promenade Pictures, and people of faith across the nation.
