Hello Judy,

I see this is your first post here so I want to say welcome to Christians Unite forums.

There are many of us here that are in the same situation you are. As Christians we can still give thanks to God for the many wonderful things He has given us.

I hope that you will enjoy your time here and that we will see more of your posts.

Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ.  I got the newsletter and was so impressed I read it twice.  We do have so much to be thankful for and I think that we take so much for granted.  Sometimes things have to be lost before we seem to be thankful for what we have.  My marriage fell apart and I couldn't hold it together, then both of my parents became ill and needed to have 24 hour care.  Work became very slow and hours were cut, then out of nowhere I was terminated.   The Lord has blessed me with so much, I have my health and the love of my family but above all of that, I have the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Just when I was so low, so down, not knowing which way to turn, and as I prayed a peace came over me.  I looked around and saw all that I had.   My family at church has given me so much support, love, comfort and guidance.  When we think we have it so bad all we need to do is look around and we are sure to fine another who has a lot less.  Yes Thanksgiving is everyday, every hour, every minute of our lives.  With every breath that is within us we should all say " Thanks be to God"

AMEN!I'm in a wheelchair and I live with my 85 year old Mother(such a blessing!) I read somewhere "your need, is probably the answer someone else's prayer" and I need help alot! And I try to always smile and say "Thank you!"

Hello JudyV,

WELCOME!

I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite. We have quite a few members here with various disabilities, and I'm one of them. I'll repeat what a dear friend told me several times, "I'm not disabled - just differently ABLED!" If you think about that, it's really true - especially for Christians. GOD can and will equip us for HIS purposes, so it then just becomes a matter of yielding to HIS Will. HIS Will and path is always the best one, and the retirement PLAN IS OUT OF THIS WORLD FOR ETERNITY!

Love In Christ,
Tom

2 Corinthians 1:1-11 NASB  Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth with all the saints who are throughout Achaia:  2  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,  4  who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  5  For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.  6  But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;  7  and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.  8  For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life;  9  indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;  10  who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us,  11  you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many.

Romans 8:16-28 NASB  The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,  17  and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.  18  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.  19  For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.  20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope  21  that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.  22  For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.  23  And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.  24  For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?  25  But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.  26  In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;  27  and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

2 Corinthians 5:1-21 NASB  For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  2  For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,  3  inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked.  4  For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.  5  Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge.  6  Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord--  7  for we walk by faith, not by sight--  8  we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.  9  Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.  10  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.  11  Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.  12  We are not again commending ourselves to you but are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you will have an answer for those who take pride in appearance and not in heart.  13  For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you.  14  For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;  15  and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.  16  Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.  17  Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  18  Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,  19  namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.  20  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  21  He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Hello Sentry!

AMEN and WELCOME!

I'm late in welcoming you because I've been without a computer, so please accept my late welcome. We're happy to have you with us, and I look forward to having fellowship with you. DreamWeaver did our last Newsletter, and I really enjoyed it. I echo your comments and thoughts. As Christians, we really shouldn't take anything for granted. GOD gives us all good things, and I'm not talking about money and worldly possessions. GOD'S Gifts are priceless and ETERNAL! Their worth is beyond human imagination. I am reminded of the Apostle Paul's letters. This life is very short, and this world is not our home. Our HOME is in HEAVEN in MANSIONS prepared for us by GOD. We can and should give THANKS continually - even when we are in need or have afflictions. If we really think about things, hard times can and should draw us closer to CHRIST and stronger in HIM. As Christians, we are all RICH even if we have little or nothing of this world's material things.

Love In Christ,
Tom

KEEP LOOKING UP!

THE RAPTURE WILL BE A REALITY!

1 Thessalonians 4:13 NASB  But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 NASB  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 4:15 NASB  For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 NASB  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 NASB  Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:18 NASB  Therefore comfort one another with these words.

I hope and pray that you have a very Happy Thanksgiving, David.

Yes, Canada does celebrate Thanksgiving in October. Most Jewish people celebrate it in August as does China and Korea. Rome celebrates it on the 4th of October and a number of nations celebrate it on the 4th Thursday of November. Yet others have various other days set aside for this reason. Although there may be cultural differences such as this one as to the setting aside of a special day to give thanks for the harvest of that year it is even more wonderful that we can give thanks to God each and every day for His wonderful mercy and blessings. Thank you Lord Jesus for all that you have done for us.

Good Morning Brother David,

Thanks for reminding us. I do wish you a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. By the way, your graphic is very nice and appropriate.

I second what Pastor Roger said about giving thanks every day. God has been good to us, and He loves us every day. I honestly don't know how people without Christ make it through this short life. I love to think about God's Promises every day and know what they mean to us. We are all rich beyond human imagination.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 5:1-21  Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;  2  through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.  3  And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness;  4  and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope:  5  and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.  6  For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.  7  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die.  8  But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath of God through him.  10  For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;  11  and not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.  12  Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned: -  13  for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law.  14  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.  15  But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.  16  And not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.  17  For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.  18  So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.  19  For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.  20  And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:  21  that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hello Brother David,

I wish that you had reminded me earlier. I apologize for not remembering that Canada celebrates Thanksgiving earlier in October. I hope that you had a Happy Thanksgiving. It's nice to think of Thanksgiving being every day because we all have so much to be thankful for. We're getting ready for Thanksgiving right now. This year is different in that we have several family members very ill this year. We will pray for them during our gathering.

We should all know that we can pray for each other and give thanks every day. We don't need a holiday as an excuse.

Love In Christ,
Tom
