Read: Joshua 6: 1-20
Persevere!“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain”
James 5: 7
In our reading today, God instructed the Israelites to walk around Jericho for seven days, on the seventh day they were to walk seven times. It was not until the seventh time on the seventh day that the wall fell down. They had to continue in the instruction of the Lord until the full instruction of the Lord was completed.
Naaman the leper did not see his healing until he fully completed the instruction of the prophet. He was to dip seven times before he would see any change in his appearance. (2Kings5: 14)
Elijah the prophet had boldly declared before King Ahab that at his word God would send rain, Elijah began to pray for rain he sent his servant to look and see if there was any sign of it, the servant returned to him and said there was no sign. Elijah instructed him to repeat this seven times. Elijah continued to pray. On the seventh time the servant came back to report that he had seen a small cloud.
(1 Kings 18: 43)
When God involves us in what He is doing He gives us instructions to follow. We are to follow instructions if we are to see what He has promised to us. When we neglect in following His word fully we fail to see the fulfillment of what He has for us. We suffer and others suffer the consequences of our disobedience. We are to persevere and not give up by the things we see or hear.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight” 2 Cor.5:7
Have you been wondering why there has been no change in your situation? Have you followed all the instructions the Lord has given you?
God says,
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land”. Isa.1:19
Our willingness and obedience to God will open doors for us which no man can shut. God has given us His Holy Spirit to instruct and teach us what we are to do. Let us be willing to be led of Him and enjoy the fruits of our obedience.
“And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.” Heb.6:15
