Tough question. In a case where we are not allowed to use Cruel and unusual punishment such as torture, he have to have some kind of deterrent. Prison is bad, but nothing bad. TV, place to work out, internet, conjugal visits, 3 squares a day, sports leagues, no taxes. Where do I sign up? People willingly join cults worst them this. And what about guys who kill someone while in prison? How do we punish them? A life sentence for killing someone. No death penalty. What keeps you from killing again?

The Death penalty is a deterrent.

"No death penalty. What keeps you from killing again?"

Exactly!

Death prevents the evil of killing again and as the Bible claims it is not a deterrent but to remove the evil of the crime, and as prevention from it recurring, from among the people. God chose to do this by physical death. Of course this was the law and Christ did away with the law on the cross.

I'm for it most definitely!  Why?  Because it is the pattern God set after the flood.

Oklahoma Howdy to All,

I voted YES for Capital Punishment. However, I have two reservations that I feel must be addressed, and I think we might be getting close to a time when technology and science will address my main reservation, THE WRONG PERSON CONVICTED.

If my main reservation was appropriately addressed, I think that capital punishment should be swift and sure, certainly not stretched out over 15 to 25 years.

In Christ,
Tom

Yes, with the same reservation that BEP mentions.  I'm not sure just how much a deterrent it is though, but it does serve as a statement by society about the value of human life.  If you take someone's life, society will take yours.

Peace

We're all under capital punishment.

Jesus is the only one who survived it.

i struggle with this topic.
here's my opinions.
i think we are to honour the law ,and the law is given authority.
we are to live in Christ ,in love and forgiveness ,just like the father offered us by sending Him,we were all once sinners ,so we all deserve death.
i just think we should leave the law do it's job wether it's right or wrong is not really our concern.
our law is to love one another ,as God as loved us.
God offered us forgiveness so are we not to do the same for others ,to be an example of the love of Christ.
for can a murderer not be saved.if we don't show this murderer an example of Christs love how will he know if we tell him of this love and cry for him to be killed,do those not of Christ do that.
just some thoughts ,anyway.
God bless.
