In my home town online newspaper in Battle Creek, MI (the Battle Creek Enquirer), there was a poll with the question, "Would you be offended if a copy of the Holy Bible arrived with your newspaper? At the time that I voted, nearly 23% had voted "Yes". I wonder if the newspaper was considering doing that.

That does seem odd...

There are poll questions that are just put out either to make people think or to get answer that validates a point someone is trying to make or to just cause trouble. I don't put much stock or faith in polls. For one thing there is no way to honestly check  the results as to being from one person or many. I have done political polls that refused to let me put in the answer I wanted, thus trying to make it appear everyone was for one specially picked person.  That said, some polls are just for fun. If a Holy Bible arrived with my newspaper I would be happy, then I would have an extra Bible. I would say this poll was something someone just thought of and put it out there for a reaction.

It is possible they were thinking of doing just that.
