Too much money going out of USA?

There are so many people in our country already needing help....maybe we should concentrate more on them, instead of sending billions of dollars to just one country.....I recently heard the President pledged $40 billion to one African country (to help with Aids).  As a Christian, I do believe in helping others, but maybe our country is too generous when there are those in our country needing help, too.

Another thought:  If we would help our own people and get our economy stable, maybe other countries (people) that condemn us, would realize that a country with Christian roots is blessed by God.

I think we need a better healthcare system, too.  It's a shame that people have to go broke trying to pay medical bills....when the USA is sending billions and billions elsewhere.  I would rather curtail the space program and have a better healthcare system.  Also, if people do not have any money at all (even illegal immigrants), they get healthcare for free.  If you have even a very small amount of money, you must use it up first before getting help.

Not only do we have a very large amount of money leaving the country in donations of this sort but we also have a lot of money leaving to families of illegal aliens. At the same time the illegal aliens are relying on our charity by getting free medical assistance, etc.

With all this money outflow there are many here that are struggling to make ends meet and cannot get the hand up that is badly needed. Yes, it is a serious problem that does need to be addressed.

Yes, I have heard that alot of (if not all) of the Hispanics send money back to their home countries.  (Maybe others do this, too.)  Maybe they should be charged a small amount that could be used to offset their healthcare.  I guess the government is afraid if they do not go to the doctor's, they might spread a contagious disease.

I know there are alot of Hispanic street vendors here in L.A.  I think they do not pay taxes on this money.  There are some licensed vendors by MacArthur Park....I think they have to pay taxes.

It is not just the Hispanics that send money back home. I know for a fact that there are also Koreans and Filipinos that do this also and I have no doubt that there are others. The problem with trying to charge them any amount for this is that many of these people are "illegals" so there would have to be a system implemented into banks and money transfers to do this that would end up penalizing those that are trying to legally purchase items from overseas or send money to missionaries. It would also cause the banks and money transfers to charge higher prices for handling this extra burden.

I thought that it was a state law there that all street vendors had to be licensed? Maybe that was just certain city laws?

Most definitely, too much money is leaving the U.S. for foreign destinations.  A large percentage of immigrants (legal and illegal) routinely send money to their home countries.  Remittances from the illegal Mexican population living in the U.S. have now surpassed oil as their #1 source of revenue. 

Many men in Latin America have now begun to rely exclusively on lucrative remittances sent from the U.S., and are no longer working.  They can be seen spending the better part of the day drinking in bars or spending leisurely days in pool halls.  They are raising a generation of entitlement, evidenced by the prevalence of young men who were previously working, who now spend their time playing video games.  They are being told they don't have to worry about working, just wait for the remittances from the US.

The U.S. has allowed itself to become the piggy bank for Latin America and much of the world.  Most of the illegal population have no intentions of becoming assimilated, and have no desire for citizenship.  They are only here for the money and freebees, all at the expense of American taxpayers.

Pastor Roger, actually, I was thinking of a small charge when they go for the free medical care.....but then, like I said before, they probably wouldn't go to the doctor's at all then.

I guess the street vendors are supposed to be licensed but I think most are not (in Los Angeles).  I know my mom once saw some police overturning some "hot dog carts" (just a makeshift can with fire and a sheet of metal over it).  But the police are too busy with serious/major crimes to enforce the vendors....there are just too many of them....selling everything from food to pirated DVDs, etc.

Faithin1....wow, that's really something else, that they just wait for the money from the USA to arrive from their families.

Maybe US citizens should contact our senators/representatives about this issue of too much money leaving our country?  Like I said before, I believe in helping others, but one cannot bankrupt our own country in order to do it.

Therein lies the problem also. The free medical care is because they are not paying their bills. Many illegal aliens go to the hospital ERs or other emergency clinics then don't pay their bill and the address they have given is usually a fake one. These facilities have no means of collecting from them. These are the facilities that are required by law to give medical care even if you have no insurance or money. I suppose it might be easier to set up a system to charge them before getting medical assistance.


If I remember right San Diego had a special group (not the police) that did nothing but check on the vendors. They also had laws that prevented vendors from being in certain places in the city.

Here in California, if you have under $2,000 (maybe they raised that amount a bit now), you can get Medi-Cal.....all of your health care is free!!!  So people that have a small savings (that are not even middle class) are not able to get free medical....but the illegal immigrants get it all for free.  It is not a fair system.

And some of the illegal immigrants have more money than that. They don't report it and there is no manner to check out their financial situation. One family here had three brand new 2007 vehicles of which one was a full sized SUV and another a 1/2 ton dually. All three vehicles were paid for. Yet they were getting free medical care and free meals at school for their children.

I often wonder how they pay for their cell phones.  (I can't afford a cell phone.)  I love all people, but just remarking on things.

I see many people in government housing here where even the young children are walking around with cell phones and I wonder the same thing about them.

Here in our area it is terrible as well. The illegals get free medical care, food stamps, Medicaid, free lunches at school and they live up to 10 people per house, that one family rents then everyone moves in. The houses are trashed when they leave. Every week the post office is filled with people buying and senting money orders back to their families in what ever country they are from.
I am disabled, unable to work. Applied for SSD in 2001. Still waiting for my court hearing. I am unable to get medicaid because I have no children. Two trips to the emergency room last year, & one the year before has put me in debt. Have to borrow money from family members to pay small amounts on these bills each month. The hospital charged more because I did not have insurance and trying to get from me what they don't receive from those that pay nothing.
We need government to stop letting big business and the insurance companies get away with making big profits at the expense of the poor to middle class. The illegal problem in Florida, has caused there to be no money and very little services available to legal citizens. As I get older I worry more about how long I can put off going to doctor's and getting needed surgery's, do to lack of funds and insurance. Something needs to be done soon.

Brother, I fully understand the situation that you are in. Praise God it didn't take me that long. I applied in 2001 also and managed to get to court and receive my SS in 2003. It took another 2 years to get a small amount from the VA.

Maybe we should all write/email our government officials about this situation?  I do love people no matter where they are from....but our government should work out a responsible plan so our legal citizens will be provided for.  I keep praying neither mom or me ends up in the hospital.

Found out something interesting today. went over to the Government office of Children and Family Services to drop off some apply for assistance, paperwork, and the receptionist booth was closed up. A woman sitting at a nearby table told me the only way to get in touch with the people there was either by telephone or on the internet. There was a tall plastic trash can with a special lid on it for sliding in my paperwork.
Maybe this is their way of weeding out the illegals, or it's just more government foolishness to make it harder for people to get in touch with them when trying to clear up mistakes.
