"Our Christianity loves its ease and comfort too well to take up anything so rough and heavy as a cross. And yet what does following Jesus mean? What is it to walk in His steps?"

Simple answer.  Read the Bible and pray.
Not once in the Bible does it say to follow Christ and walk as we are to walk, an easy thing.  Or a comfortable thing.  As a matter of fact it says quite the opposite.  The Bible teaches that the world around us will hate us and make our walk difficult.

There is already several posts concerning this prosperity gospel being taught.  Catch up on those Amisk.

I am unlike most fathers.  What I would like my children to have more of is crowns to lay at Jesus feet.

This topic brought to mind a song I heard that truly blesses me...

The eyes of God are upon me,
He sees everything I do..
The arms of God surround me,
He keeps me safe and secure..
He knows where I am every hour of every day...
He knows each thought I think...
He knows each word that I say...
An although there have been times I stepped out of His will..
I've never been out of His care...
This changing world can alarm me...
With war, with sin, with strife...
But my loving Father charms me..
With joy, with peace and with life...
He knows where I am every hour of everyday..
He knows each thought I think...
He knows each word that I say...
And although there have been times I stepped out of His will...
I've never been out of His care...
