As Brother Bob posted in the Prayer Request, may we all be praying for this situation, the families involved and the one victim that so far has survived.

Campus massacre:
32 dead in Virginia
University president: 'A tragedy we
consider of monumental proportions'

In what already is the nation's worst campus shooting, a man identified as a young American male killed at least 32 people and injured more than 20 at Virginia Tech today.

The gunman reportedly killed himself.

An injured student told MSNBC the shooter was a college-aged Asian with a maroon hat and black leather jacket.

University President Charles Steger said the grieving campus is quickly organizing a convocation of faculty, staff and students.

"Today the university was struck with a tragedy that we consider of monumental proportions," said. "The university is shocked and indeed horrified."

The deadliest U.S. campus shooting, until today, took place at the University of Texas in 1966 when 16 people were killed by Charles Whitman, who opened fire from a clock tower. In 1999, two teenagers killed 12 fellow students at Columbine High School near Denver.

Officials at Virginia Tech said two shootings took place on opposite sides of the campus beginning at about 7:15 a.m. Eastern time at a residence hall.

About two hours later, the shooting continued at Norris Hall, an engineering school building.

Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum said the gunman killed at least one student in the dorm and others in the classroom.

Student Madison Van Duyne told CNN, "Most of the students are sitting on the floors away from the windows just trying to be as safe as possible."

Last August, classes were canceled on the opening day at Virginia Tech when an escaped gunman, William Morva, allegedly killed a hospital guard off campus and fled to the campus area.

More to come …

Yes very much so.

One report says that currently police do not think that two shootings are related....however I go what are the odds that two separate shootings would happen on a campus on the same day...at opposite sides so that the police would be at the other end investigating?  I tend to think they are related and one was to distract for the other...but we may never really know.

It is also unbelievable that the two incidents occurred two hours apart and the only thing said about the first was that it was an "unfortunate incident". There was no warnings put out, no lock down until after the second one. There are a lot of questions on this that need answered for sure.

This is truly a tragic situation.  I pray for all who have lost relatives and friends, as well as those recuperating from their wounds.
