A Contradiction?!

I guess the rest of the USA also gets those awful Carl's Jr commercials where they are flaunting sex rather than simply trying to sell their food.
The latest commercial "stars" a young woman that is wiping a table in a sexy manner and wearing a revealing top while she and a male customer are eyeing each other.
Well, last night I saw this young woman being interviewed on the news.....she had been in season 2 of American Idol and said she was still interested in her singing career. Then she proceeded to start singing
Amazing Grace
.....I'm all for singing Amazing Grace, but her "performance" as the sexy waitress (in my opinion) contradicts what she was singing. No wonder some other religious groups get the wrong idea about Christians.

It is unfortunate that many Christians will compromise in such a manner in order to get worldly fame and money. I agree, many people get the wrong idea about Christians because of such actions.

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
Matthew 6:24
You can't serve God and money, even though so many people try to. This girl really needs prayer. By singing "Amazing Grace" she's representing herself as a Christian. NO Christian should conduct themselves the way that Debp described from the commercial. That makes a really bad name for Christians. Non Christians are just looking for things like that to hold against us. The world is just waiting for us to mess up so they can say "this person did that and they claim to be a Christian, I thought Christians were supposed to be good and holy!" People are just looking for ways to incriminate Christians. We don't need to open up opportunities for them to do this.

Amen, Pastor Roger and Mississippi_Jesus_Chic.
I wish Carl's Jr would get a new advertising agency. All of their commercials have this sexual bent to them.....the one with Paris Hilton was the worst....unbelievable!! Alot of people complained about that one and it was taken off of the air eventually.

Unfortunately there are many commercials of this nature. It seems to be getting worse by the day and it isn't just in the commercials. People that claim to be Christians are participating in these things more and more. It is a sad situation and it does Christianity a major injustice by these people representing themselves as such. We see many politicians that claim to be Christian yet they are not taking a stand for Jesus. Instead they are supporting the things of this world through there votes and the bills that they are initiating.

I would do more than guess that the executives of Carl's Jr. knew all about this, approved this, and decided this was the direction they wanted to go in advertising. So, I think the problem is with Carl's Jr., not the advertising agency. The advertising agency simply gives the client a range of ideas and try to satisfy the client with what they want. Carl's Jr. didn't just turn the advertising agency loose to do what they wanted to without approval.
As an old square, I would probably take my business elsewhere and spend what little money I have in places with moral values. The only argument I have with myself is that local stores many times don't share the values of the big corporate office. Things like this should be given some consideration when large chains or franchises are involved. In some cases, the owners of the local outlet or franchise are just as upset as the general public is. Regardless, we can't just ignore things like this, so we can at least let the local outlet know how we feel and why. In many cases, we simply need to take our business elsewhere.

Once in a while I used to get a spicy chicken sandwich at Carl's Jr, but otherwise I don't like their food. And, now, since these commercials are so bad, I haven't been going there. I do like Jack in the Box....they have
great
salads. The Jack in the Box is further, but worth the extra walk.

You know, if those commercials had been out 50 years ago, the entire country would be in an uproar over it. But over the years people have gotten to the point to where they just don't care.

Actually, I think people would have been upset over them even ten years ago. The Paris Hilton one really created alot of complaints and that was just this past year. I don't know if you all get these Carl's Jr commercials, but they are more like soft porn....perhaps they change them a bit for other areas of the USA.

They are called Hardee's down here in the south...Unless it is Jack's we do not eat at fast food named after a man

Brothers and Sisters,
I have a hard time understanding why anyone would do an advertising campaign using Paris Hilton. This just doesn't sound very intelligent.

No, it's not very intelligent to have Paris Hilton washing down a car
and
herself in a skimpy swimsuit.....in order to sell hamburgers!!!
You know for people out in Los Angeles to complain, it was really bad!!

I'm glad that someone brought out that this was the same thing as Hardee's. I live in the south, and I had never heard of Carl's Jr. But no matter what company, the point is still the same. Why would someone want to show 3/4 naked women on tv to sell fast food? For some reason this doesn't even make any sense to me! Around here, if you show a big juicy half-pound burger loaded with onions and tomatoes with a good cold drink, you can get plenty of people in your store. Maybe that's just because Mississippi is 50 years behind everyone else! Either way, nudity is not necessary to advertise anything!

Except for evil itself.
We did have Hardees and Carls Jr's both here at one time. All the Carls Jr's closed down and now just the Hardees are here. When I decide to go out for a meal I go to a small family restaurant that is run by a Christian family. It is quiet and kind of home like. The burgers they serve are large and moist without the dripping grease and I can have it my way .... lot's of everything on it. My grandkids love it there also.

Amen.
There is nothing that wets my appetite better than seeing the food right there on tv. No need to dress it up with anything else other than the food and the price
