We must not advocate a self-centered gospel in place of a God-centered one. Scripture has been twisted, either misused or taken out of context to support self instead of the wonderful grace of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is His work and none of our own that provides Salvation. It is through Him and no other name that we may see eternal life.

What is the connection of the Old Testament to the Gospel?
There are those that would have us throw away the Old Testament books. To disregard any teachings that come from them. The Old Testament is the entire basis of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our schoolmaster. Without it the understanding of the need for Jesus Christ might escape us completely.
We are told how God created all there is and it was "very good". We see how many chose to disobey God whereby sin entered into the world. We see how man tried to please God with his own works (Gen 4:3 ) We see how many continually rejected God, the formation of the laws that no man could hold to on his own.
We also see the many references and prophecies of God's solution for this and His love for mankind, for mankind to be reunited with Him.
The New Testament, the gospel of Jesus Christ who is come to save those that were lost.
