Overcome Evil with Good

If thine enemy hunger feed him: if he thirst, give him drink: fo in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Rom. 12:20, 21

Thus artists melt the sullen ore of lead,
With heaping coals of fire upon its head;
In the kind warmth the metal learns to glow,
And loose from dross the silver runs below.

Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. Gal. 6:9

We are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Phil. 3:3

The kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Rom. 14:17

Holy Ghost, dispel our sadness,

Breathe thy life, and shed thy light.

We joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Rom. 5:11

Pardon a Source of Joy

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. Psalm 32:1, 2

The Saviour smiles! o'er my bless'd soul
New tides of hope tumultuous roll;
Earth has a joy unknown in heaven,
The new-born peace of sin forgiven;

Hope of Glory a Source of Joy

By whom [Jesus Christ] we have access by faith into this grace whereinwe stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Rom. 5:2

The Lord of all the vast domain
Has promised it to me;
