Chavez calls anti-Iran UNSC's resolution as worthless
Madrid, Jan 6, IRNA

Iran-Venezuela-UNSC
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday described the recent anti-Iran resolution 1737 issued by the United Nations Security Council as 'worthless'.

He made the remarks in his meeting with the new Iranian Ambassador in Caracas Abdullah Zifan.

At the meeting, the Iranian ambassador submitted his credentials to President Chavez.

"Venezuela stands shoulder to shoulder with Iranian brothers," he said adding that he is confident that the Iranian nation under wise leadership of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei coupled with the vigilance of its president would successfully continue in its path.

He called for further expansion of relations between Tehran and Caracas.

"Venezuela attaches importance to expansion of ties between Iran and Venezuela mainly under the current circumstances," he said.

Zifan had earlier served as Iran's ambassador in Spain, Indonesia and Singapore.
