Brother Jerry, We put the welcome mat out for Ed almost 35 years ago now. We even kept copies of all of our entries to prove that we entered. We have one pile of the entries in one corner and copies of the magazine (Holiday in Borneo) in the other corner. We never even read the magazine. You do know that I'm kidding. It would be more likely to be hit with a meteor fragment.

Pastor Roger, I think that "powerball" is a winner's term of some sort that's associated with state lotteries. I could easily be wrong, but I think that "powerball" refers to the biggest winner. In these days, there are a million and one ways to separate folks from their money. They don't even need surgical instruments.

I should have removed the question mark. I meant that sarcastically.
I have a friend that almost lost his business because he spent so much in a powerball. He called it an "investment". Where is the investment if there is no return on your money or for that matter no return of any of your money. The majority of the money going into lotteries come from the lower income people. I see it as just another way to tax the low income without it being fully apparent as to it being a tax.

Pastor Roger,
Brother, it is extremely sad how many people get hooked into habits of throwing their money away, especially when it is needed for basic necessities and families go without.
By the way, I really don't know specifically what "powerball" is, but I do know some people who regularly flush their hard-earned money down the drain in various kinds of gambling. The devil gets paid extremely high wages.
Love In Christ, Tom
Isaiah 55:10-11 NASB "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Amen,
And do not forget to add to the necessity list the tithe and missions offering.
Oh and as just an FYI the Powerball is a multistate lottery. That is the official name of it. And I am still so very thankful that my state is the hold out state here in the South for lottery. I pray we continue to vote it down everytime it comes up for a vote.

Thanks Brother Jerry!
Now I finally know what powerball is after hearing that term many times. My state was a hold-out on the lottery until just recently. BUT, my state also has many large areas that are sovereign Indian Nation land, and I really don't know what all is done on those lands. I know there have been some casinos for a long time, so they might have had lotteries also. Most states have little or no control over what happens on Indian land. Various kinds of gambling are so addictive that many people will travel considerable distances to throw their money away. The sad reality is that people who want to gamble will find a way, legal or illegal. I know some people who have lost everything and went right back to it when they got more money. Many of them also left their families behind and decided the gambling was more important. This is simply a torture and misery tool that the devil uses with great expertise.

Yep. I feel saddened for the Native Americans in that what they are thought of most now days is casino spots. And I feel ashamed of my ancestors who actually put them into that position.
