Nickel Creek is good, but they are a little to basic for me. To me, blue grass just isn’t bluegrass unless their fingers are playing faster then my driving. Grin

They are good when you compare them to say, Metal or Punk (come on, powerchords take no skill to play), but for Bluegrass, they are average.

How about New Grass Revival? They don't record as a group anymore but Bela Fleck is astounding, and John Cowan has one of the best voices in any type of music!

I asked because I am a struggleing banjo student (I can't keep my fingers going in the right direction  Smiley). I grew up engulfed in Bluegrass music, and even sang in my Dad's band. I mainly sang gospel, especially for our nursing home shows. I have a fondness for the music that drives my friends nuts.

It makes me happy knowing that I am not the only fan out there.

Bless you all

String Cheese Incident is one of my favorite bands.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are awesome too!

I'm just starting to get into bluegrass and the more I listen to it the more I like it.

Just curious did anyone catch the bluegrass all-star on pbs a few weeks ago?
