The manner in which you speak of fighting does sound like ego speaking, pride. As we said pride is a sin. I'm sure that you have heard the old saying that sometimes it takes a bigger man to walk away from a fight than it does to fight. As old and worn out as that saying may seem there is a lot of truth to that. It requires a lot of courage to walk away from a fight when you know that someone is going to call you a coward for doing so. Where is the true courage though when your back is turned to someone that has just threatened to do bodily harm to you? This is not to say that Christians are to be pacifists. We are told in scriptures "Mat 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. "

The main question that you should ask yourself is why does fighting make you feel good. Is it because you can cause pain to others or to yourself? Is it a way that you try to get your frustrations with life out? Just what about fighting do you find "fun"? These are rhetorical questions. In other words I am not asking for an answer from you but rather questions to make you think and to answer for yourself.

G, I too had a confrontational personallity. It took a long time to surpress that and believe that Gods way was better than mine.

Insulst are just that, only insults. We are to respond in love tooward our enemies, as Christ did. He never accepted sin, but always accepted the sinner. Love them into the kingdom.

then there is the reference to fighting. He who lives by the sword shall die by it.....

We are tought that we are not to be confruntational but transparent and open to all.

Hobby fighting among those who are doing it for fun.....is more like a sport, and not really confrontational however may be harmfull to the body for no reason. I am unsure on this point.

Baisically the only pride I am 100% is to not cowar to a challenge. If someone challenges me or insults me, I won't back down untill I win or am onconcious. It's my irish and german blood I'm afraid but I can't change that. Is that bad? BY the way guys, thanks for help so far Smiley

Hello G,

I challenge you.

I challenge you to read and study the book of Ephesians in the Holy Bible. It is quite beautiful and it teaches about the matchless Grace and Love of God.

All of the things of man last only a short time and pass away. Your youth will also pass away. BUT, the riches of CHRIST are eternal, and they grow as you grow and mature as a Christian. At this point, I would say that you are NOT putting God first in your life, rather self and the things of man. Some of the mightiest warriors in human history were and are Christians, but it isn't something they brag about, and they don't enjoy hurting other people.

Remember that I have CHALLENGED YOU to read and study Ephesians. I might also CHALLENGE you with a test on Ephesians after a reasonable time. You like to be CHALLENGED, and I have obliged you. We'll have to see if you back down or not.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 4:8 NASB  Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Eph 2:3-5

........Like the rest we were by nature objects of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.

Hello G, I also have Irish, German, and Scottish blood in my blood.  But God love you, and if you don't give up on God, God won't give up on you.

Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. 12 It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,
