I just responded to the "Most Haunted" post by a fellow member. Television is a powerful tool for corruption (either spiritually or otherwise). My son is always trying to watch that junk.
I would get behind any politician or public figure (and I know some have) that would stand up to this sewage on our airwaves. I know we have options to filter but I mean come on......how do you know what to filter and what not?
Anyway,
M.L.

If I see something once, that goes against the Bible, I lock the channel out and switch the channel. The only time FX, TNT, or Speed channel get unlocked is when NASCAR is on.

Locking something out, is when you have to use a password. So that you "lock out" the offending channel. If you have kids, they can't view that channel.

Don't even have TV That is the best way to go brother, sometimes I wish I could get rid of the TV here. Some people have no idea how much TV has actually torn families apart.

I have so many locked channels. I wish they had a plan whereby you can pick and choose only the channels you want insteaad of getting what they offer, of 247 channels available I have only 17 that are not blocked.

With just my wife and I here and no kids at home we don't bother to lock out any channels. We do have the TV and VCR set to omit certain channels for when we use the scan function. I only use three channels so I understand what you mean sister. With cable we had to get a lot of channels that we never use, paying a small fortune. I saw where there was a bill proposed to make Cable and Satelite companies to change their policy on that and prevent them from forcing such package deals on people. I haven't seen anymore on it so I don't know what the status is with it.

I think filtering is up to we as individuals. Mary, while I can understand your indignation, I must point out that the government has very little power to censor what you can view over the air waves, constitutionally speaking. We need to be very careful in asking the government to legislate morality. In cases such as homosexuality, abortion, 1st ammendment cases, etc., then there is great reason for such actions, because of the impact they will have on our country... In cases like what you see on telivision, I think it is better that we as individuals filter the programming for ourselves. What is appropriate for one individual may not be for another... And so while I think you have the right idea, it really isn't a practical one. If you don't have the channel filtering option, there is also the option of using the V-Chip that comes pre-installed on most newer sets. That at least will control, to some degree, the kind of programming that can be viewed without your direct consent. Anyway... Just my two cents.

Hello LittlePilgrim,
We've been missing you, and it's great to hear from you.
I've been alive long enough to see some very strange cases of censorship in this country. The general trend has been to censor the things of God and replace them with the things of the devil. It really makes me sick when I think of all the examples, so I really don't want to elaborate. The older one is - the more examples come to mind immediately. I'm just happy to know that the LORD of LORDS will crush all evil at His appointed time.
Love In Christ, Tom
Galatians 6:9-10 NASB Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
