Hi all, I'm new here...I kind of stumbled on this forum and liked what I've read so I thought I would begin posting.
I must say I'm not too well versed in Christianity, I just recently started going to church and stuff, but I've really enjoyed it a lot. So sorry if my knowledge on the Bible isn't too great.
Anyway! Now that my introduction is over I have a question:
I go to college here in Texas (I'm currently taking summer classes), but I was talking with someone and we got on the topic of Muslims in the United States, and this person was really offended when I said that we should try to keep a watch on them and things like that. Anyway, I couldn't really convince this person or argue too well...I mean it seems kind of ridiculous that we aren't keep a close eye on potential terrorists right? I don't know I'm not too good at all this.
I was just wondering if anyone could help me come up with a good way to argue this so that I can try to convince this person next time I talk to them, either from a social approach or a religious one. Anyway, thanks for the help, and hello to everyone!

Because of the way, the US Constitution is written, muslims are allowed to worship, as they please. This is guaranteed in the 1st amendment which allows freedom of religion. Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Though while they are guaranteed their right to worship. I can also see other persons view. The F.B.I. is charged with watching for terrorist groups, so they are watching. The really bad thing is, most terrorist are muslim.

Hi Tex. Welcome to Christians Unite.
As DW said the U.S. laws are designed to allow muslims here and to worship as they wish. Those of them that are potential terrorists are being watched by the government. This is something that the ACLU has been screaming about recently. The ACLU doesn't like them being investigated ( against their freedom and privacy rights ). There is also the racial profiling laws that are a problem here.
While I agree that all citizens have a right to privacy here in the U.S. the muslims that are being investigated and watched are not citizens, at least not yet. This means they are not protected under those laws for privacy.
Right now with the problems in Israel and Lebanon and the threats made to the U.S. by Hezbollah it is very important for the security of all U.S. citizens that these people are investigated and watched closely. In case you hadn't seen it in the news yet, Hizbollah has said they have over 2,000 people in different places around the world ready to attack Israeli and U.S. citizens. I don't have a number of how many but we do have Hezbollah here in the U.S. right now. That would tell me that it is necessary to watch them or we will have another 9/11 or worse.

That's a good question. I don't know for a fact but I would venture to say the majority of them do. I do know that there are many here that are members of Hamas and Hezbollah. It has also been seen that CAIR ( Council on American/Islamic Relations ) is a large supporter of many of the terrorist organizations.

U.S. Muslims criticize Bush’s silence over Israeli crimes
U.S. Muslims have criticised the Bush administration for failing to condemn the Israeli war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon, voicing concern over their relatives and friends trapped in Lebanon, according to International Middle East Media Center.
The U.S. President has been quoted earlier as defending Israel’s position arguing it "has the right to defend itself".
The President’s statement offended Muslims and Arabs living in the U.S.
A team of representatives of 11 major Muslim organisations publicly called on Bush to take a stance against the ongoing Israeli crimes in Gaza and asked him to condemn the attacks that killed scores of civilians and inflicted serious damage on Palestine's infrastructure.
After Israel launched another much horrific offensive in Lebanon, the appeals for denouncing Israeli crimes have multiplied.
Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), one of the most respected Muslim organisations in America, said: "Once again, America's image and interests worldwide are being harmed by one-sided support for Israeli actions.
"We're urging Muslims in America and other people of conscience to contact their elected officials to tell them that we have to have balanced foreign policy for the Middle East, one that is driven by American interests, not Israeli interests."
CAIR is a non-profit, non-governmental Muslim organization in North America founded in 1994 with several offices across the U.S. and in Canada.
Also Zainab Al-Suwaij, the director of the American Islamic Congress, called on the U.S. government to intervene and try to end the current massacres in Palestine and Lebanon.
"The policy for the U.S. should be stopping the violence period, and starting to solve the problem through negotiations."
40 per cent of the 3.5 million Arab-Americans are of Lebanese descent, according to The Arab American Institute, which represents the policy and community interests of U.S. Arab Americans.
"In many cases (there is) no way for them to leave, even if a plan were to be developed, they can't go from one part of the country to the other to get out," said James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute.

Yet these same groups say nothing at all about the atrocities committed by muslim organizations.

Hello Brother and welcome to CU. the best way to go about it in my opinion would be to present to the person the Reality that there is only One God, and introduce them to Jesus. Let them know that there is a need of salvation and that there is only one Way that leads to salvation and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ. That would start a conversation and it shouldn't be allowed to turn into an argument, to my belief we should keep our conversation seasoned with salt. The person you are talking to should not be made to feel offended, especially when it comes to their race. Many muslims are very hard to convince, especially the men. I suggest you pray first ask God to give you Wisdom and familiarize yourself with Scripture. Perhaps if you have a church you go to, the pastor or another seasoned Christian can sit down with you and help you.

Palestinian terrorists prepare to target U.S.
Al Aqsa Brigades leader tells WND of threat amid concerns of Hezbollah on American soil
JERUSALEM – It is only a "question of time" before Palestinian terror groups and other Islamic organizations in the Middle East target the United States both abroad and on the home front, Abu Nasser, second-in-command of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, told WorldNetDaily in an exclusive interview.
The information comes after FBI officials told reporters earlier this week they are searching for possible Hezbollah agents operating inside the U.S. amid concerns escalating tensions with Iran could trigger attacks on American soil.
According to Israeli security officials, Abu Nasser and the overall leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in northern Samaria, Ala Senakreh, coordinate their groups activities directly with Hezbollah. Sources in the Brigades admitted to WND they work in tandem with Hezbollah, which they say provides funding and training.
"The Americans deserve to be targeted because of their support to the enemy. ... It is a question of time before the revolutionary organizations in the Middle East will start targeting the Americans," said Abu Nasser, speaking to WND from Nablus.
The Al Aqsa Brigades, the declared "military wing" of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, is responsible for scores of rocket and shooting attacks, and – together with Islamic Jihad – for every suicide bombing since last February's so-called cease-fire.
"One can say that these threats are just rhetoric, but the near past proved that these threats come more and more into reality," said Abu Nasser. "Believe me, it is a new era and I am suggesting to the American people to adopt a different policy and strategy because very soon they will deal with a unified Muslim world, but without the help of their agents in the Middle East."
The Al Aqsa Brigades is not thought to possess the ability to attack inside the U.S., but there are concerns its ally, Hezbollah, has infiltrated America and is seeking to attack.
Hezbollah representatives in Iran warned earlier this week the group stood ready to target U.S. and Israeli interests worldwide.
American law enforcement officials said they are taking the Hezbollah threats seriously.
"Because of the heightened difficulties surrounding U.S.-Iranian relations, the FBI has increased its focus on Hezbollah," said FBI spokesman Paul Bresson in Washington.
"Those investigations relate particularly to the potential presence of Hezbollah members on U.S. soil."
William Kowalski, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI in Detroit, asked, "If the situation escalates, will Hezbollah take the gloves off, so to speak, and attack here in the United States, which they've been reluctant to do until now?"
Detroit is home to one of the largest Muslim communities in the United States. Hezbollah sympathizers have been caught fund-raising in the city.
Two men pled guilty earlier this month to racketeering charges in which a smuggling ring based in Michigan is accused of funneling profits to Hezbollah.
U.S. law enforcement agencies reportedly have indications Hezbollah agents are on U.S. soil and may be planning attacks.
In May, the New York Post cited law-enforcement and intelligence officials stating Hezbollah may be planning to activate sleeper cells in New York and other big cities as the U.S. confrontation with Iran escalates.
The sources told The Post about a dozen hard-core supporters of Hezbollah are operating in the New York area. They said the possible Hezbollah agents have been placed under heavy surveillance.
Hezbollah never has launched a strike on U.S. soil, but prior to al-Qaida's Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, it was responsible for more American deaths than any other terrorist group.
Hezbollah is accused of attacking the U.S. embassy in Lebanon, killing 63, and of a spate of kidnappings and murders of Americans in Lebanon. Hezbollah's deadliest attack against Americans was the 1983 bombing of Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. servicemen.
