"Watching and Watching Out"
"It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes.” Luke 12:37
Not so long ago I heard about a bunch of drivers who were on an interstate in Pennsylvania. They were proceeding at a pretty good speed, and by that I mean an illegal speed, until they saw a state highway patrol car coming down the ramp. One after another, the cars’ brake lights flashed on and they slowed down to the posted limit. Everyone behaved. Still, every single driver kept glancing in his rearview mirror, impatiently waiting for that moment when the officer would pull off the road. After a few miles, the policeman activated his bullhorn and broadcast this message: “I’m not a Pennsylvania State policeman … I’m from Connecticut! You can speed up now!” The impatient drivers did.
Most of us are impatient. When we go to a department store, we scan the registers to see which line is shortest and check out the stuff in the other carts to see who will take longer to ring out. At the bank's drive-up window, we go where the line is shortest. At the fast food place, we get upset if someone ahead of us places a big order. Since we are so impatient, many find it hard to follow Jesus’ advice to be watching for His return. “After all,” we think, “it’s been almost 2,000 years. Just when is He coming back?” Then, armed with a feeling that the Lord’s return won’t be soon, we live our lives the way we want. That’s dangerous. The truth is, the day of the Lord is coming.
Too much of the human race has become caught up in the rat race that they’ve forgotten about the spiritual race. If you forget about the day your income tax is due that doesn't mean you don't have to pay taxes. If you forget to renew your driver's license that doesn't mean it remains valid. If you forget Jesus is coming that doesn’t mean He won’t come; nor will you be excused if you are unbelieving and ill-prepared.
Believe Him. He who kept His promise to fulfill the law for us, to carry our sins for us, to die for us, and on the third day to rise from the dead, will keep His promise to return on Judgment Day. Whether that day is soon or 10,000 years from now, be ready. Believe in your Savior and wait patiently for Him who will make Judgment Day a joyful day.

Jesus said "will i find faith when I return".His coming must be very close ,it is not because of pain that i want Him back, but because of what Jesus said,. to me it is a clue , it is because of the lack of faith in Him the Son of God diying to save humanity on the Cross.

Yes, sister, you are right. We are told that there will be a great falling away from the faith just before His return. We are already seeing signs of this happening with many "churches" of today moving away from the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Scramblin' for Success"
He (Jesus) noticed how the guests picked the places of honor. Luke 14:7
Everybody likes to be famous. Everyone wants to be number one. The English paper, The Daily Mirror, wanting to see just how far people would go in their search for fame, ran an ad for an imaginary TV program called, “Quarantine.” The ad said, in part: “Not worried about looking and feeling your worst on live TV? We're looking for charismatic, extroverted, and healthy men and women for a new reality show. Contestants will spend a week in our lab exposed to infectious diseases. Ready to face the pain to find the fame? Don't mind the nation seeing you at your lowest ebb? If you want to become a star in a week, and rich too, then we want to hear from you.” Within a few days, more than 200 applications arrived. If the show had aired, I imagine it would have been a hit. People like to be first.
Jesus said it doesn't work that way in the kingdom of God. In God's kingdom, the humble are lifted up and those that consider themselves to be a cut above everyone else are brought down. That was certainly the way it was when the Christ was born; God picked a humble maid from Nazareth to be the mother of our Savior. When God wanted to tell the world the Messiah had come, He shared the Good News of great joy with some humble shepherds. When Jesus called disciples to follow Him, He selected humble fishermen, a despised tax collector, and a political activist. When He was dying, He told a penitent criminal that he would, before the end of the day, be in heaven. When Jesus rose from the dead, some sad and sorrowful ladies were the first to see Him alive.
Jesus' resurrection from the dead is the culmination of God’s plan to lift up the entire lost and sinful world—including each of us. Because of Jesus’ substitution for us, all who humbly acknowledge Him as being their Savior, and first in their lives, find that they, too, are lifted up. No longer do they have to do anything and everything to prove they are worth something. Jesus has already shown they are valuable: They are worth the cost of His own life. To forgive us, to save us, to give our lives true value is why the Christ came. So Jesus might lift our souls from hell and lead us into heaven was the reason that Jesus suffered, died, and rose. Now, by the Holy Spirit’s intervention, the Lord offers salvation to all who confess they have sinned and Jesus is their substitute. Those are lifted up who say that Jesus is number one in their lives.

"Borrowed Time"
Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. Matthew 25:13
The doctors gave John Brandrick the bad news. He had cancer of the pancreas. With less than a year to live, Brandrick was told to get his affairs in order. Looking at his imminent end, Brandrick made a choice. If he was going to die, he was going to make the most of every moment.
In pursuit of his dying dream, Brandrick quit his job. He sold or gave away most of which he owned, stopped paying his mortgage, and spent his savings going to fine restaurants and traveling to visit the many places he had always wanted to see.
Brandrick had wanted to go out with a flourish. The only problem he encountered was this. He didn’t go out. When he reached the one-year deadline, Brandrick was pleased and kept on spending. At two years, and still feeling fine, the condemned man started to have some questions. A return visit to the doctor told him that his life-threatening tumor had been misdiagnosed. He was informed that he had had nothing more than a minor inflammation of the pancreas.
That’s right, John Brandrick, who was now left with little more than the black suit, white shirt and red tie that he had planned to be buried in, had been condemned to life! When he was interviewed, he admitted that he was pleased with his new lease on life, but he’s also broke and would like to have the hospital pay him something for the doctors’ misdiagnosis.
John’s interesting story got me thinking about the Savior who warned, “you know neither the day nor the hour.” I began to wonder, “If my doctor told me I had less than a year to live, what would I want to use those precious days?” Would I ‘eat, drink and be merry?’ Would I party like there’s no tomorrow? Would I spend money on myself, or would I give it away? Would I draw the shades and waste those moments wallowing in self-pity? What would I do with my time?
Jesus, our loving Savior, suggests that each of us, with a limited amount of time, might be wise to be prepared for that unknown moment when we will be leaving this world. The crucified and risen Savior gave His life as the only Sacrifice that can forgive and save sinners, so we might be prepared for our unknown day of departure.
So, how will you live today? A wise person might live as if this day were his last. I think Christians will spend every day giving thanks for the Savior who has made it possible for their lives to go on forever.

"God Knows"
And Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream. So in the morning his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was none who could interpret them to Pharaoh. Genesis 41:7b-8
The official farm report is in for Cambodia. This year’s planting season will be filled with bad news followed by worse news. That’s the prognosis if you believe the predictions given by Cambodia’s two royal oxen.
Have I lost you? Let me explain. Every year, before planting season, seven golden trays holding rice, maize, sesame, beans, rice wine, water, and grass are put in front of two royal oxen. Predictions on the future are made on the basis of what the oxen eat or drink. A good harvest is anticipated if the oxen eat the rice, and a drought is imminent if the oxen drink the wine and avoid the water. You see how it is supposed to work.
This year the farmers of Cambodia are despondent. The first of the oxen looked at the trays and then wandered off without eating anything. The second of the oxen ate up half the corn before it also ambled away.
Does this custom sound foolish? Possibly, but the Cambodian custom did remind me of an ancient event recorded in the Old Testament. Many of you may remember the story of how the Pharaoh of Egypt had a disconcerting dream about fat cows and skinny cows. You might also recall how the mighty ruler went to his magicians to find an interpretation for what his dream might mean. When these skilled soothsayers proved unequal to the task, God gave Joseph the ability to interpret the dream. The story ends with Joseph being freed from prison, the country of Egypt being freed from a great drought, and Jacob’s brothers being freed from the guilt they had carried since they sold their little sibling into slavery.
The casual observer might easily notice the many similarities between the story about the farmers of Cambodia and the Biblical narrative of Joseph. Both take place in agricultural counties, speak of cattle, and deal with discerning the future. In spite of these parallels, the story of Joseph has one, all-important difference: God. The Genesis story of Pharaoh’s dream is just one puzzle piece that God puts in place so He might keep His salvation promises to sinful humanity. Because Joseph is saved, God’s people are saved. Because God’s people are saved, the Savior is born in Bethlehem, crucified on Calvary, and rises from the dead. Because Jesus’ sacrifice has been accepted, all who believe on Him as their Savior have been redeemed.
And that, my friends, is a wonderful difference. It is a difference that means we are in the hands of a gracious God and not at the mercy of some munching oxen.

"Fishing Limits"
And he answered them, "Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise." Luke 3: 11
Some people fish for fun. John Burke Yearwood, of Greensboro, Georgia, isn’t one of them.
At the age of 86, John had become passionate about his fishing, elevating his hobby into an art. Having cast his lines into the Oconee River for years, John knew the places where the fishing was best, and he kept those places a secret.
That’s why, when a couple of tournament fishermen got to close to his lines, John did what any self-respecting angler would do. He picked up his rifle and shot at them. John fired a few warning shots across the bow of their boat to warn them off. Then, he placed a shot through the arm of one of his competitors.
Last week’s Associated Press article didn’t say just why John carried a gun when he went fishing. I suppose he believes in having a well-equipped tackle box. The article did offer an explanation as to why John plugged the other angler. Greene County Sheriff, Chris Houston said, “John has been putting his fishing lines out in the area for decades. He was jut trying to warn (them) away from the fishing lines.”
John’s tactic worked. The anglers retreated, called for help, and had John arrested.
When Jesus said the owner of two coats and a surplus of food should share them with others less fortunate, He didn’t mention fishing spots. While John and others of a similar mindset might surmise from this that the Lord didn’t wish to include anything as precious as a guarded fishing spot, I think just the opposite. I think Jesus meant to include everything. True, I might laugh at John for refusing to share his fishing spot. In all probability, he would laugh at me for being overly protective of something that I consider to be special.
Think for a moment. What do you have that is so precious that you could not begin to think of sharing it with someone in need? You don’t have to give your answer out loud. It might be embarrassing. Even so, without a great deal of time invested, you can quickly put your finger on the item(s).
Now, with that item in mind, ask yourself, “What did Jesus hold back from me?” His time was at the command of those who were sick in body and soul. Each one of His days was committed to resisting Satan’s temptations and obeying the Law. His coat was even taken from Him and used as a prize in a game of chance. Jesus held nothing back, not even His life, so we might be washed of our sin and freed from damnation. He practiced what He preached, and then encouraged us to do likewise.
