American League manager Ozzie Guillen has tapped Kenny Rogers of the Detroit Tigers to start for his All-Star squad tomorrow night.

Kenny Rogers?  Didn't he sing The Gambler and Coward of the County?

No, but this one's almost as old.  The Tigers' Rogers is over 40 -- isn't he?  Seems like he's been around since I was in college . . . and that was a long time ago.

Wasn't Moses 80 (some say) when The Manager called him out of the dugout for a big save?

Gives me hope that these clay pots we live in might be useful longer than some of us think!

Seems like starters rarely win the All-Star game, and neither did Rogers . . . but his team did last night.

Plus, he made his 41-year-old body take a hard dive for a sharply-hit ball in the second inning.  What more could you ask?  Makes me want to go out and take some infield practice.
