Jean M Auel.  Her whole series is GREAT.  The fifth book just came out - Shelters of Stone.  Its just as good as the rest.

The other books in the series are:
Clan of the Cave Bear
Vally of the Horses
The Mammoth Hunters
Plains of Passage
and then Shelters of Stone

There is one more in the 6-book series that isn't out yet.  The whole epic is wonderful and adventurous.

Someone bought me Shelters of Stone, not knowing is was a series. I was hoooked! I keep telling my my self I should stop and wait till I read the books before it, but I just couldn't put it down. I'm reading through Clan ofthe Cave Bear, now. Great, Great stuff!
