Today, I switched news sources for a day, hoping that maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't run across homosexual propaganda. But alas, there it was in big bold letters:
'How to be Gay' course draws fire in Michigan
At first I though, "Geez, there's always something." But those thoughts were quickly replaced by "How to be....what in the world!" At first I thought the course was the dumbest thing I had ever heard. But I had not read the professor's explanation yet. Professor David M. Halperin says, "It does not teach students to be homosexual. Rather, it examines critically that there are right and wrong ways to be gay, that homosexuality is not just a sexual practice or desire, but a specific set of tastes in music, movies, and other cultural forms - a notion which is shared by straight and gay people alike."
In a course description on the university's website, Halperin writes, "Just because you happen to be a gay man doesn't mean that you don't have to learn how to become one. Gay men do some of that learning on their own, but often we learn how to be gay from others." The course description continues on, saying that students "will examine a number of cultural artifacts and activities" including "camp, diva-worship, drag, muscle culture, taste, style, and political activism."
With that in mind, why in the world are our federal tax dollars funding something so insanely idotic? Even if you are a liberal, you would agree that a "How to be Straight" class is beyond retarded.
Another troubling question: how much is this ever-so-brilliant college graduate getting paid to perform this atrocity? He says critics misunderstand the "How to be Gay" class. No sir, I don't understand the "How You Got Hired" part.
