How close is THIS to prophesy?  Popular opinion is that the anti-Christ will behead those who refuse the mark.  Could Islam be the anti-Christ?

Of course, we know that beheading is the most popular form of Islamic terror.

Just a thought to ponder…

Beheadings 'aim to force out Thai Buddhists'By Sebastien Berger in Bangkok
(Filed: 24/06/2005)

Islamist militants in southern Thailand are trying to terrify Buddhist residents into fleeing, its prime minister said yesterday after a man was publicly beheaded.
The murder of Lek Pongpla, 34, in Narathiwat province was the fifth beheading in a fortnight and the first to be carried out before a witness.
Two men arrived on a motorcycle at the teashop in Cho-Ai-Rong, and one shot the victim in the back before decapitating him and putting the head into a fertiliser sack.
The men fled and the sack was later found a mile away.
"The insurgents have been beheading innocent people to show they are still capable of creating violence," said Thaksin Shinawatra, the prime minister. "They try to make people scared so they will run away from the region because they want to seize it."
More than 800 people have been killed in the area since last January, in an insurgency that has led police chiefs to compare the region with Iraq. Notes at some of the murder scenes have called for a jihad against Bangkok's rule.
Most Thais are Buddhists, but the country's deep south is mainly Muslim.

Why do you think that beheadings were instituted by these people instead of some other means? I know it tells them this in the Quran but what I mean is what is the symbology behind the use of this method?

Humiliation?  I've really never done any research on that.  It brings to mind what they did to John the Baptist.

Excellent question, dear Pastor R.

Also: why is 'beheading' a specific means of execution by anti-Christ during the end times, as suggested in the Bible?

Obviously we need to answer both questions and seek a common link to know if Islamic beheading and biblical beheadings are tied together in any way.

I don't know the answer to either question - but I'd think there are folks on the board who can pitch in with some answers...

Here ya go guys.  I found a website that addresses some of this.  It's called the Middle East Quarterly. The Spring 2005 issue is, "Beheading in the Name of Islam"

Whoops, I forgot about the shorter answer.  Beheadings are to terrorize others.  So the symbolism is terrorism.

I know that beheading is a very old practice of execution. It is mentioned several times in the Bible. I agree that it is a tool of terrorism that goes way back even in Islamic law to the time of Muhhamad and even before Muhhamad.

What I am wondering and have not been able to find any information on and may never be able .... In the Bible the symbolism of the body is used to describe the Body of Christ with Jesus Christ being the head. Such symbolism was used many times throughout ancient culture. Do you see where I'm "heading" here? (sorry, couldn't resist the pun)

The article reference is long, I know, but it does go into the practice with the Roman's.  There may be no other symbolism.  Was there symbolism to crucifixions?  Upside down crucifixions?  It just may be how antiquity executed.
