Who enjoys carprenty?

I love taking a pile of lumber, and turning it into something useful, or making repairs with it. I am by no means God's gift to the art of woodworking, yet he has blessed me with the gift of working with my hands (and keeping them attached).

I rebuilt a kitchen drawer yesterday for my Wife. She told me I was awesome. Although it did make me feel good to hear such praise, I simply told her my mentor was a carpenter and he gave me some good pointers. She just smiled real big and gave me a hug.

It is such good therapy to be out in the shop, fixing and creating. The buzz of the saws, the intoxicating smell of fresh sawdust, the anticipation of wondering if the pieces will all fit together. Life is good.

I too enjoy making a bit of saw dust fly every now and again.  Yep, God has blessed me with His protection in this respect as well.  I still have all of my extremities, fingers… toes….

With the loving support that your wife gives I am surprised that you are not building an addition on your house…lol… Grin

Keep making the saw dust fly… and driving those nails… coyote… Wink

I like working with wood.  I can't feed it into the fire fast enough.

Throw me in the 'stocks' if you want - but if wasn't for man burning wood you wouldn't have BBQ (or roasted marshmellows - or weenie roasts!).

Mmmmmm - weenie roasts...  There can not be a more artfull use of wood than to roast weenies.

Reba I can use a set of hands like yours around here:D I live in a house built in 1930, that has been poorly taken care of.. it is a non stop battle with fixing things around here. If you lived in Texas I would love to buy your house, but me and the laws of California wouldn't get along;P

I went to look at routers last night. I ran into my Pastor, and we talked for a bit. It was a wonderful conversation, standing in the middle of Lowes discussing carprentry, and Chrisit. I think Church should be held in a lumber yard, and everyone wears a tool belt. Communion would take place, then you would go build a house for a poor familiy. That would just be awesome.

Judgenot,

You are right about the roasting of meat over a wood fire. My wife and I try to have a cookout once a month with our friends. Its just good fellowship.

lumber yard and work for God

While works do not save us... God does expect us to do Works for Him!!! Cool

TIT 3:14  "And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful."

HEB 10:24  "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works"

JAM 2:17  "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone".

Your Brother in Christ,
